Rodgers Wants Out

I see this more on Rodgers then the team. Rodgers seems himself as the GBP without him there is no team so he thinks since the team runs thru him he should be able to tell the team who he wants around him and when they don't listen to him that's one of his personal grudges he loves to hold against people.
I also see a lot of speculation from the media - most of which have not spoken with Aaron directly. But here's the thing - all this speculation just enflames whatever is actually going on, and it's not helping anything but getting internet clicks. Period.

Normally I'd agree rb but this is way different. No denials from Rodgers' camp or the Packers', it's legit.
i'm going to try to stay positive and hang on to a shred of belief that neither party has denied anything because they are all focused on coming to an amicable solution. the one comment that we did get from the horses mouth is that gutey regrets not talking to rodgers before drafting his replacement.

Personally I favor a hard line approach to his bullcrap, but I always come back to the disgrace that is the Detroit Lions, and how Calvin Johnson, their best player of the last generation, is severed from the organization because they insisted on him paying back some bonus money after he abruptly retired. Long term it is so valuable to them to have him in the fold. Not to have him show up or whatever because he's not going to do that but they can't have him severed from the "G"
I don’t favor the hard line approach but I do also understand why it’s necessary sometimes. I agree with you on the Johnson analogy but not just for the reasons you mention. Relationships with team management, agents and players is so important short term and long term. I give you the NY Knicks. Dolan is a despised across the league and guys like Durant and James would not consider playing there. On the flip side Aranson and Riley have created a culture that the player matters. I get the NBA is not apples to apples but it’s still about relationships and communication

But we’ve also seen statements from both sides that have validated that there are issues. I don’t think it enflames the parties at all, if anything it enflames the fans who have already taken sides. Just read some Twitter threads. It’s actually comical

Well the organization has validated the LA trips to meet with Rodgers and resolve the issue and the Tirico statement was direct confirmation from Rodgers. It’s happening and an amicable solution is going to be very difficult

On picking a QB in 1st Round

“Everything I’ve been taught,” Gutekunst said, “that’s where you start. You start with the quarterback. So you evaluate them every year, and I think it’s always on the table. It’s a good crop this year. It’s a good group of quarterbacks. I think it’s a little deeper than it has been in the past. It will be interesting.”

On Aaron Rodgers ability
“The guy’s really unique,” Gutekunst said, “in the way he takes care of his body and the way he works at it and the way he goes at it... He’s such a unique player. I know how he prepares himself. I think he’s got a lot left.”

On why Packers might pick a 1st round QB
“Ron traded a first-round pick for a quarterback that nobody wanted,” Gutekunst said, referring to Brett Favre. “Ted (Thompson) drafted a quarterback when he had a hall-of-fame guy sitting there who was going to play at least three more years. That’s kind of how I’ve seen it. My first 10 years in the league, it was Hasselbeck and Brooks and all those guys. Ron was able to turn those guys into picks down the line. I just think the quarterback position is so important that you can never not address it if you think you have an opportunity to take a player that can play in the league.”

On Aaron's reaction if they did pick a QB
“Aaron wants to win,” Gutekunst said. “I think that’s the most important thing to him. He knows we’re trying to make the best decision for the football team moving forward, so I’m not worried about that. With all players, you can’t control that. Players get happy and sad about all kinds of things. I’m not too concerned with that.”

Rodgers response during an appearance on ESPN Milwaukee's Wilde & Tausch, March 2020
"No matter who you bring in, they're not going to be able to beat me out anytime soon."

amazing how quickly public opinion changes based on a few "reports" from unnamed sources.
I took it as Spears has some direct knowledge that Rodgers can be difficult and toxic. To me just another validation that none of this is really new news or behavior

all of those things are true, including the rodgers quote. so there has to be a lot more to this than drafting jordan love.

Well we all know Rodgers is a guy who is set that once he's wronged he won't forgive you and it seems likely he was told he would stay in the loop on things and when teams made choices without giving him a call he took that as a lie and no longer trusts the team so he won't buy anything they tell him in the future.

Woah woah woah Gute just admitted the cardinal sin here. He does not consider Aaron Rodgers feelings before he makes decisions!
