Does this stunt reveal a lack of maturity in him as well?

IMO he see's the writing on the wall he is at best a backup at safety or used as a hybrid LB/DB in limited role. He figures he's young so he wants a chance to go to place were he would have at least a chance at becoming a starter again and getting that big second deal all players chase. In GB there is no longer that chance to become the starter and get the big second deal.

He had many chances with the Packers to show he's a starting S in the NFL, but he's never developed into anything more than a backup. But relative to Danno's question - I do believe that he is getting bad advice from somewhere - people that encourage him to believe he's better than he has shown.

He was a very poor fit coming into GB just another TT pick who was drafted on talent not fit. He was always a guy who lacked coverage ability and IMO day one should have been moved to a ILB roll or at best used him like Morgan Burnett who was last couple years playing a hybrid LB/DB roll were he was mostly a run support player.

The feeling I get is that this whole thing is more driven by money than by a desire to succeed.

He would have been better served by proving, on the playing field, that he deserves a 2nd contract payday. He's had two years to "get noticed" in GB and he hasn't done that.

Does he think that all he has to do is play out his rookie contract and someone throws a big money 2nd contract at him?

neither, he wants a shot to play. He has asked to be traded or released. Its simple really, try and make and deal and if you cant move on.
 
clearly he's not being realistic in his expectations. to me that implies he has an agent that is giving him bad advice. you don't make a power play like this unless you are at least a starter that other teams would like to have.

His agent is Drew Rosenhaus...that said with drafting a S and also signing one in FA its clear he is not part of GB long term plans. He wants a shot and can't blame the kid when its clear that chance is not going to be in GB. Get the release early and find a fit, not better than being cut in August

Quick reminder this is Josh Jones not to be confused with Ronnie Lott or Earl Thomas. What really surprises me is we have 2 pages on this topic for a guy who was 90% sure to be cut anyway .....
