Pre-Season Week 2 ~ Official Packers vs Broncos Thread

so, if 31 players were withheld from this travesty, and the final roster is 53, that means 22 of the players that we watched last night are going to make the team. maybe we get a few castoffs from other teams, and maybe we find a kicker and back-up qb, but do you think there were 22 players on the field last night that deserve to be on the final 53? i sure didn't see that many.
The key evaluations were probably Rhyan and Monk on the OL, Hopper at ILB, Kalen King at CB and then the QBs. Outside of that I think the talent level is all a wash, and mostly across the board league wide.

I didn't get to watch the game.

But judging from the score, the ESPN ticker, and comments here and by friends, it doesn't seem like the Pack put up much of a fight or even looked like they were trying to put up much of a fight. I think the minimum salary is $750K. In my younger years, I probably wouldn't have made the team, but nobody would have doubted I was trying to. And, that's what sickens me about way too many guys on the Pack. Especially, our offensive line. Where the hell is their pride?

I hope I'm all wrong. But, an abysmal performance like that is probably deeper than it was just the subs and us starters have it and are different. We're probably soft once again.

I think starters need to play vs Ravens So far the starters have played 3 snaps on offense and barely any more on defense. That is not going to have you ready for the season and they are going to come out rusty to start the regular season. You can't play scared in pre-season that guys are going to get hurt and refuse to play them at all. They then just get hurt in the regular season early because they have not got in games to get their conditioning up.

To a point I agree. However I don’t doubt many of these guys are trying.. But they simply are not talented enough to make an impact in the NFL.

but those are all guys that the packers were going to keep anyway. especially monk, hopper, king and pratt. they were all drafted this year. gute doesn't usually cut draft picks in their first year unless they show zero potential. but still, you are only talking about six players.

well yeah, i think that’s my point. the consequential evaluations were only for a handful of guys, and the evals are consequential because they’re about guys who could conceivably play with starters and not just make the roster.
