Post Game Preseason Game 1 Jets Slaughter GB

i get what you're saying, but don't you think that part of the problem is that they don't practice these oatmeal schemes that much during the regular season? (i've taken your cue and started to use a more apropos descriptor than vanilla)

also, i don't think simmons has been with the packers for a year yet.
Just occurring to me how quickly I will regret bringing up the vanilla thing. Next week maybe? Gonna be a loooong season for me around here.

i thought your post had merit. and i think oatmeal is a more appropriate description. what's more bland than oatmeal? maybe cream of wheat?

plus, i love vanilla and i really don't care for oatmeal. unless it has brown sugar, cinnamon, and raisins in it. then i'll eat it.

Don't care if this was preseason. That was an awful look in all aspects of the game

I don't think it's coaching. Rather a lack of talent. Hate to say this, but at the end of this season, Policy may have to take a hard look at Gute and his team and determine how well they're doing getting good/the right players in.
I hate to say it but regardless of what they claim I don’t really think the front office cares as much about a title as the fans. They care about profit and making money. And that isn’t an issue. So I don’t think they really want to risk that ….

I really don't want to overreact after one preseason game. However, it was apparent they lack depth overall and talent in key positions. They have a tough schedule, and a tough division to boot this year. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that they miss the playoffs and get humiliated in a few games. We'll see. If that happens, that's an issue coming to light to the average fan that they will have to address.

It's not 1 preseason game.

It's pretty much every big game. The other team shows up more inspired, with a better attitude, mentally and physically tougher, and wanting it more.

Almost every big game!

Last year Detroit's thirds walloped our primma Donna's in the second game.

We're soft.

There's a lot to worry about because it happens 97% of always.

the packers are a non-profit corporation. the team has operated as a publicly owned, non-profit entity since August 18, 1923. this unique structure means the team is owned by its shareholders, who are primarily fans, and any profits generated are reinvested into the organization rather than distributed to owners or shareholders as dividends.
these profits are used for reserve funds, reinvestment into the team, and community programs. the packers are the only publicly owned, non-profit major professional sports team in the us and the only north american major league franchise to release its financial balance sheet annually.

That doesn’t mean it spends that $$ on players, coaches, etc… as long as it follows the rules it could spend it on things like TTD.

the packers have nearly always been pretty close to the salary cap compared to some other teams. the problem isn't that they're cheap. the problem is that they don't do a very good job of player acquisition. we have a gm that has a habit of using first round picks on developmental players with high ras, likes to wait until after the first wave of free agency, is just bad a picking the players that fit our biggest needs (ol, cb, dl, etc.).

Agree with some of what you're sayibg but not so much this part. Gute has been pretty active in FA's early waves. There was the Smiths/Turner year that worked out well. Then in 2024 he hit early and well on Jacobs and McKinney. Gute has actually done pretty well on pro-player acquisition.

It's his drafting that's just so Jekyll and Hyde for me. He's not a disaster in the draft, but frustrating at times. He values athleticism too much. Yes you need good athletes, but get better football players.

Also, stop with the versatility stuff. A good center will win you more games than a guy who plays mediocre center and guard. Find me a left tackle, not a guy who can play both LT and RG.

I don't think their problems are as bad on depth as lacking in difference makers. Who has he drafted that's been a real all-pro quality difference maker. There was JA for a few years and Gary is almost there at times, but other than that, NADA. Yes he's gotten some quality guys, especially in that 2022 draft, and Kraft has that potential, but there are almost no guys a team needs to gameplan for. No field tilters.
