Post Game: Packers Defeat Bears 20-19

yeah, you're right. so out of 13 picks, we managed to get two guys that we might keep for a second contract. if i'm hafley, i demanding to be consulted before any defensive pick is made. i just don't think gute knows what he is doing with defensive picks.
no argument from me... I think our pro personal dept blows

Not a good or fun win, not much to celebrate or really feel good about coming out of the bye. Alexander still hurt, wonder how much he'll play for them this year. Thought Love had a fairly strong game overall but that throw was just a killer. ML with some iffy calls. Glaring personnel issues on the DL and LB. Quay Walker, McDuffie, Nixon all on the short list to be gone next year. Lukas Van Ness cant even get on the field when it matters. Pass rushers besides Gary are a 5th rounder and two UDFAs. For the Xth year in a row the defense needs an overhaul. Starting to think they keep the D intentionally bad as a make-work project, like soviets planting trees. Nice play by Brooks there at the end, at any rate.
just remember it was you and I that said they needed another draft and FA cycle before this team would be ready..too many holes to fill.

I know, and in the offseason it’s easy to have perspective. When the season starts though, every season is unique and special and you want to make the most of it. I wanted to see them make a deeper run than last year, wanted the improvements at S and another year of growth for Love and the WR to take them over the top. Alas, likely not to be. They still feel as far away as they did last year. It’s just disappointing right now and a little disheartening that for the rest of the year they’re just stuck with 7 and 25, and the corner room is all that’s it’s going to be.

yeah, that's what i was hoping for as well. probably what most of us here wanted. but speaking of growth at wr, i thought watson played well today.

There is clearly something very wrong with their process. I wonder if they do any kind of internal evaluations, auditing on this stuff in order to improve internally. I don’t know if it’s over reliance on athletic testing and projection, not enough consulting with coaches in scheme matches, I don’t know. Right now it’s just not good enough, it feels like they’re drafting for a different team than the one that shows up every July.

well, that was the problem with tt - he said it was his job to pick the players and the coaches' jobs to make them fit. it seems like gute has inherited that philosophy. i just don't understand that. you need to make an effort to pick guys that fit with your team and your team needs.

I don’t get it either. These new younger coaches are so great with communication and “explaining the why”, as they all say. Why wouldn’t Gute talk to Hafley about this stuff moving forward? Maybe he will. I remember Haf saying that he told Gute that McKinney was his need to have UFA. Hafley was hired I think early February, maybe too late to involve him in college player evaluations etc. We’ll see this time around.

Tucker Kraft was a non factor on offense. Interesting. Don’t think he had a single catch.
