Post Game Niners Defeat Packers 37-20 End Season.

Regarding our defense:

They were faster. I was surprised by how much.

But, what really annoyed was the the apparent minimal attitude to make the damn tackle. Our guys just don't seem to have the desire to stuff anybody. I think it contributes to bad angles and lackadaisical efforts.

I'm jealous of the 9ers. Everyone of their defenders wanted to hit us and committed to the tackles. It's disheartening that we don't really have any guys who appear able to, committed to, and want to decleat anybody.

Regarding our offense:

Rodgers makes 2-3 throws a game that nobody can make.

Yes, the receivers could be better, but, I don't think it's the recievers. I really think it's Rodgers. He won't run the game plan. He won't dink and dunk - he's said he doesn't think that's football. Fir as smart as he supposedly is, he doesn't see that dinking and dunking would put the opposing defense on its heels and give him the opportunities for his big plays.

I don't think it will matter who the recievers are because he will not take the first open guy and looks for the second bigger play.

Oh well, it ain't gonna change. I'm just another year older without a Lombardi
The WR with the exception of Adams get zero separation or understand how to adjust routes. It was clear as day yesterday. Same at TE. Jones was the #2 yesterday in balls caught so that should tell you something

It was a total team loss.

Defense - I don't think anything needs to be said
Special teams - A shanked punt, Ervin muffed a kickoff return, and gave up a 26 yard punt return
Offense - Had only 1 good drive in first half and it ended on a fluke fumble. More then anything the O had to start fast and make Garropolo beat them, and they completely failed at that

It's rough to watch but that's a heckuva scheme and execution by the 9ers. Can't wait for the growth of the Packers and hopefully, one day, will be gashing opposing defenses like that

If Martinez reads quicker and is a step faster, he can blow this play up in the backfield. Another example of how bad he is. A good ILB helps this D immensely.

The DE overruns and fails to contain. You can't run a 34 base scheme with those DE, they just can't overcome an aggressive physical OL. I have seen that 3-4 times this season.

That was Adams, Lowry and Lancaster. Looks like Adams in particular paid the price for not staying square, he was just lunging and stumbling everywhere.

A lot of things on D are going to get a hard look this offseason. That DL group was really the same as the WR group. One good player and a bunch of guys. They need to figure out why things went well when they did and why they fell apart when they did.

JMHO, but I think the targets for free agency will be an ILB and a DL.

I also think they will draft one of each of those as well.

You just can’t rely on a rookie draft pick, even a high one, solving your problem. The learning curve is too much for an immediate impact, especially for DL.

What's the solution? Scheme change? Bigger DE's?

It just seems like the defense has been the focus of the draft for many years. I wouldn't mind them dipping into FA again this year to find those positions you list.
