Post-Game Eagles End Packers Season 22-10

based on his track record, i'm not holding my breath. he hit the jackpot in 2024 with mckinney and jacobs. but i can recall a few other big-money free agents that never did anything for us. i agree with what mark said in shout at the end of the game: gute has not done a good job of bringing in the talent and depth that we need. and i fear that as long as he remains our gm, we will never get over the edge.
As far as the UFAs go I think he’s done pretty well. He made franchise altering signings in 2019, all four guys worked out. Then came covid and the Rodgers cap crunch, and I can’t think of any major signings from that period. I mean he tried to sign depth pieces here and there but no big ticket guys. Next time he tried was last year with McKinney and Jacobs. They have tons of cap space to go UFA shopping again this year.

I think his biggest issue has been drafting some very good players and paying them like great players because they have no choice. Second biggest issue is drafting too many “adequate” players in the first round and not enough very good-great ones. Both issues come down to depth.

Josh Jacobs counting the playoffs 9 straight games (12 TDs) with a rushing score and to make it even more crazy he started out the year only having a rushing score in 2 of his first 9 games (3 TDs).

I'm going to say it again - being a young team has some advantages, but being the youngest team 2 years in a row means you didn't add very many veterans. Big games / playoff games, veteran savvy in knowing what you can do and NOT do is extremely important, and we don't have any veteran leadership right now to teach that to the youngsters. We need to add some non-flashy veterans this off season.

The Packers lost one more offensive player -- center Josh Myers -- in the fourth quarter. What appeared to be a major knee injury turned out to be less severe, Myers said, although he could not return. He said the initial indication was a potential hairline fracture in his lower leg. Myers also told ESPN after the game that he played the second half of the season with a torn pectoral minor muscle.

I agree with the one quibble that I would gladly accept some flash vet players as well.

Another in a line of games against top flite opponents - able to hang in with them, but not able to get a win. I don't think I can remember a season where they really didn't win a true underdog type game. This season seemed totally chalk. Gute and ML will need to huddle up this off-season and figure out what pieces they need to get over the hump.

My keys to the season were hit and miss yesterday. Kicking game had a hiccup, run defense was just OK, and the inexperience at QB was hard to judge because of the depleted receiving group. That said, Love did not really play particularly well.

To my untrained eyes the areas that are too weak to stand up against the best are special teams other than specialists, the o-line, the pass rush, and the WR group. Their secondary actually held up pretty well though the CB room could stand to add a guy or two.

4th down, game on the line. 5th rounder and 2 UDFA WRs. Wicks and Melton run their routes into the same spot, poof, two options gone. Love reads it and hits Heath. Is the throw a little high? Yeah. Does Heath absolutely just need to get two feet down and complete this process? Hell yes. I'm supposed to look at this play and say "Hurr door bad throw by Love its his fault"? Give me a break. So much bad football here.
