Packers 2024-25 Season Thread

The Packers offensive line has given up only 69 total pressures and Jordan Love leads the NFL in sack percentage. We are also 4th in rushing yards in the NFL. This o-line is actually getting the job done considering how weak we are at C, RG, and LT.
Wow, it doesn't appear that way. Certainly, didn't last week.

Especially, on the big plays, seemed like Love was running for his life almost immediately.

i'm not sure you can credit the o-line for us being 4th in rushing yards. we are rushing the ball a lot more than we used to in order to compensate for the o-lines poor blocking. same with sack percentage. when you rush the ball more often there's less chance for a sack. the eyeball test tells me this o-line is holding the offense back.

Tied for 5th in the NFL in yards per carry. Tied for 2nd in the NFL with only 12 sacks. Tied for 2nd in the league in 20+ yard runs with 11. We are 4th in the league in rushing attempts but I think that is a good thing.

16th in pass attempts in the league. Not crazy low. Right in the middle.

Sacks could be low because we are getting rid of the ball quicker yet the Packers are 2nd in 20+ yard passes completed and 1st in 40+ yard passes completed. Which tells you, we are not always getting rid of the ball quickly.

I get it but these stats are pretty solid considering....JMO.

i don't mean to argue the point, but i think in this case the stats are a little misleading. just because the pass completion looks long on paper, a lot of times they reflect a lot of yac, as opposed to long air yards. so it doesn't necessarity mean that love held the ball longer, and sometimes it is just his ability to scramble that gives him enough time for a long pass, and finally there are times when the ol is getting big-time help from extra guys like kraft. it's just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.

Don’t underestimate the fact ML is a master game planner as well. His plays don’t typically seem to be long developing plays where the OL has to keep up pass blocking for long periods of time. Plus Love’s scrambling ability.

However, how many of those high INT numbers are because Love is on the run because the OL hasn’t blocked well?

I don't think it's many. Every QB is going to be pressured, I think the bigger issue has been Love's general quality of play while under pressure. That includes decision making (where some of these INTs are happening) and accuracy.

Anyway, in my own bye-week musings, I think I set my own exceptions for Love too high. Or in another way, I assumed after the last month of last season that he was a finished product, when he's not. He's not a young player but he's relatively inexperienced still, and his path will continue to have ups and downs. Progress isn't linear, and Love's play is no exception. I think there is a lot to be pleased about the team still playing generally winning ball while he's in a bit of a down cycle - it means he's doing things better than he was last year while in a down cycle, and that's progress itself.

Marshawn Lloyd will return to practice this week. The Packers will have 21 days to put him on the active roster or put him on season ending IR.
