and sometimes he throws an interception to avoid a sack.Sacks are a QB stat, tells me Love is very good at avoiding them. Uses cadence to identify pressure, makes adjustments, knows his reads and the offense.
Just the one time! Granted, it resulted in 6 for the other team.and sometimes he throws an interception to avoid a sack.
I would say concerning but Love has said he is trying to make plays and is not going to change his game. For 15 years we were accustomed to Rodgers never throwing more then 10 INT's in a season. I think we are going to have to accept that while Love can have 30+ TD seasons that having at least 15 INT's and even into the 20's could be a norm for him. While we're on the subject, maybe this is a better conversation for the bye week lull, but how are we all feeling about Love's INTs this year? Concerning? Part of his growth process? Bad luck? Curious what you all think.
Unlucky bounces aside, 20's would be way high. I think 15 or so over a 17 game season would be acceptable as long as he's producing TDs. That wouldn't be the worst thing. and that means we can't afford to have a crappy defense like we had when rodgers was qb. we have to be able to recover from turnovers and create turnovers on defense as well. i like hafley's defense and we made a great investment in mckinney. we still need a better mlb (cooper needs to play more), but it looks like hafley is making the most of what we have.I would say concerning but Love has said he is trying to make plays and is not going to change his game. there's a silverstein article in the mjs this morning on this very subject. here's a quote from the article:Unlucky bounces aside, 20's would be way high. I think 15 or so over a 17 game season would be acceptable as long as he's producing TDs. That wouldn't be the worst thing. Looking over a few comparables:
Joe Burrow went 34/14 in 2021 and 35/12 in 2022. Allen was 37/10 in 2020, 36/15 in 2021, 35/14 in 2022. Matt Stafford 41/17 in 2021 (been hurt and missed time since).
I like Love's mentality and like that he's aggressive and I still think he's learning how to be the best QB he can be, by some trial and error, but to be sitting on 8 INTs in 5 games played is a bit much. In public ML is being fully supportive but at some point he and Clements need to sit down with him and stress how important this is to correct. It's fun and games now while he's throwing Favre rocket balls for TDs but it might take some disaster of a game to get through to him on this.
There is a big difference in how Love performs against four-man rushes and against more than four.
According to Next Gen Stats, Love has thrown 11 touchdowns and has a 114.3 passer rating when not blitzed. Those numbers drop to four and 61.8 when a team sends five or more at him.
The predicament Love faces is whether to aggressively attack the defense with deep throws to make them pay for the man coverage they’re forced to play when they blitz or to lean on the “hot” reads and easy completions that can wear on a defense in a less spectacular way.
Love has mostly been aggressive this year. He ranks sixth in average yards his 179 passes have traveled (8.9) and fifth in the percentage of times his passes have traveled 20 or more yards (13.4%).
The results have been mixed.
