Packers 2023-24 Season Thread

Jayden Reed has combined 8 TD's right now which leads the team for TD's. Would mark back to back years of a rookie leading team in TD's if Reed finishes with club lead. Last year Watson was tied with Dillon for most TD's on team.

#Packers DC Joe Barry: "Losing sucks. Always. But, yeah, I'd be lying to you if I said -- this week particular was hard. It was hard on me, hard on my family. But this is the National Football League. This is what you signed up for."

Joe Barry: "I have to be better for our guys. I put that on me. Anytime we don't play well, I put that on me."

Joe Barry on why #Packers stayed in zone: "I would be totally lying to you if it wasn't the Mike Evans factor. When you go against a guy like that, there's so much attention he draws with what you deploy against him, and then the coverage principles that you play."

Joe Barry: "The first two things that we talked about going into that game was, 'We can't let 13 destroy the game, and we've got to play the run.' I thought we did those two things well. Unfortunately, we did nothing else well."

If you look at it the stats we are running ball about 25 times a game and passing about 35 times a game.

True but we are running the ball 2 less times per game on average than last year. (which adds up)

Last year we averaged 27 rushes per game and 33 passes per game. We are also averaging 4.2 yards this year compared to 4.6 last year.

Why are we running less with a rookie QB than we did last year with a HOF QB? Makes no sense. You should be running more to use it to help your rookie QB. I get our OL is not as good but still......

Injuries to our RBs, lack of depth at the position, and ending up in 3rd downs where the running option is off the table because of yardage needed. Lots of little things that aren't as visible to some people as others.

Then there's the offensive line, the inconsistency there, and the not so solid replacements for the left side when both Bakh and Jenkins were out. Not conducive to running the football.

Another thing that was happening is that defenses appeared to be loading the box, as if tempting Love to throw the ball because of our inexperienced receivers, and Love's not having experience either.

You put all the little things together and it points out the reason things happen. Goals are nice, but you need the tools and the opportunities to make them happen. The Packers have not had that this year.
