Packers 2022 Thread

On the video posted with Warner, sent it to the man I trust most on offense. Former D1 college OC. TOP notch HC, his take was and I quote " More sloppy and lazy routes than how the O is designed" and "Warner is being a bit fictitious in terms of how bad it is and clearly is biased for Rodgers" Third-party view, he's not a Packers fan so I like the take. tc(
This is really bad. Awful football all the way around…

I think it's correctable, honestly they really really needed him playing games in the preseason.GB needs to can the WR coach as well because those kind of route mistakes should be corrected in film study during the week
And maybe can Gutey for not finding guys who can handle an NFL playbook

"The Green Bay Packers run a "death by a thousand paper cuts" passing offense. All they want to do is call a passing game that consists of slants, screens, and RPOs, banking on a combination of high completion percentage and yards after the catch to move the sticks. It's a viable approach in theory, but it requires hivemind perfection from the playcaller, passer, and pass-catchers. The Packers do not have that. They are cutting themselves as much as they are cutting defenses."

Doubs still had a chance to make the play, but the failure succinctly captures two separate issues. The first is that Doubs, or anyone but maybe Lazard on his best day, is not capable of making that play right now. He just isn't good enough. The play is there to be made, tough as it is, but the Packers don't have a receiver they can turn to for that.

The second issue is that defenses know all Rodgers wants to do is rush the ball out of his hands, especially on fourth-and-short. Rodgers' 2.48s time to throw is the second-lowest in the NFL, and his 6.6-yard average depth of target ranks 33rd out of the 38 quarterbacks with at least 50 attempts. Defenses know this is all the Packers have, and that's how a regular quick game concept ends up looking like a botched screen pass.

So long as the Packers are incapable of finding easier explosive plays, these are the margins they will be playing with. And so long as these are the margins the offense is playing with, the offense will not be good enough to get the team where it wants to be by January, especially if the defense continues to sputter

None of this can be fixed during the season at this point. This is what the Packers are. A bad team.

Like Mark said a bunch of different things but not something you can fix in a week IMhO.

I’d be shocked if Arod came back after this year. The O isn’t going to change to fit his lordships wishes, he’s already checked out, and next year GB won’t all of a sudden have a bunch of good receivers.

I’m ready for Love to take over. Will he make GB into a winner right away? Heck no. And that’s not a bad thing. But he’s not an Arod clone so he may hit on a way to make things better. Arod has given up so no reason to keep him because of the old days…

Normally, the time to throw is considered good. But in this case, does indicate a desire to rush ball out of his hands (perhaps in part because of poor line play to a certain extent). The average depth to some degree also reflects a mind set of using the short pass as a replacement for the run. Problem is, they aren't successful enough at it to use it to open up the down field passing game, and even if they were, the WR's aren't very good and it may not matter. Combination of lots of problems, all of which exacerbate each other. OL play not good leading to pressure.. leads to AR rushing his throws even more than normal to WR's who are unable to get open and to seemingly be where they should be, and AR has no expectation of them winning their routes, leading to his hissy fits. I get him being frustrated, I do, but IMO he needs to be a better leader than he has been. I actually have more of a problem with that than I do his play, because in my mind I can understand most of the play. With this team, I think he needs to not be stuck on making the pre-snap RPO call as frequently as he has been, and adjust the threshold he is using to make the RPO decision so it shifts more towards the run call. That call being pre-snap, and the pass being much less of a threat than it has been in years past means that threshold needs to change.. they can't win the against the same look with the pass they are used to winning. AR knows that based on the performance, but I don't think he's allowed it to sink in to the point of affecting his RPO calls yet.
