Packers 2022 Draft Thread

Here's a different draft thought. Do the Packers avoid taking an OT early to accommodate Elgton Jenkins. I'm sure Jenkins and his agent would prefer he be viewed as an OT for contract purposes rather than an OG. Basically let Jenkins be the RT and negotiate his next deal at OT money. Plus, he could legitimately be a top-10 RT in the league right away.

Maybe the Packers look more to fortifying the interior of the o-line in the first 2 rounds and then take a developmental OT or a more versatile OG/OT type guy later to strengthen the line and add depth. Maybe a guy like Sean Rhyan in Rd 2 who many sites list as an OT, but because of less than ideal length might be better at OG. Then take a Chris Paul or Cade Mays on Day 3 - guys who played OT in college but are almost sure to play OG in the NFL. Or a guy like Waletzko who is likely an OT only, but will need a year or two to be NFL ready.
All depends on if Jenkins is ready to go by Week 1.
I do see him as an OT though.

Also, factor in that they need to be developing an eventual replacement for Bak, maybe even needed by 2023.

That seems more likely - you could get to #15 by trading #28 and #53. Still not sure the Packers value the position enough to do this, but this seems more palatable.
I just think there’s to many needs to spend that capital. It’s not a simple call but I lean towards keeping the picks

I personally would not. Yes it’s important to get a quality WR but not at the expense of assets.
I just think GB seems desperate for a WR in the draft that's why I think they could used picks to get guy they want. Desperate men make desperate decisions.

I don’t sense that. Would they like Olave sure but at what cost. Personally past Wilson and London it’s the next 5-6 not much difference. Exception is Dotson who is not a fit

Not desperate.
That’s why they’ve had official visits with Burks and Pickens. They’re exploring the options beyond those top 3-4 WR’s in case they are gone by #22/#28.
It’s called due diligence, not desperation

I sure hope Pickens is not a pick at least not in the 1st. that would be a huge reach IMO.

Past results don't necessarily correlate with future performance, but I don't think any of Gute's day 1-2 move ups have worked out. Alexander was drafted with a trade up, but that was after a trade down that netted GB a future #1, so the assets involved were arguably a wash. But otherwise - Burks, Savage, Love and Amari Rodgers were targets of a trade up where important assets were lost and the results have been very poor. I'd rather Gute just stay put, there are plenty of needs to go around.

I don't get the sense that the Packers are desperate. If they were, they'd have pulled the trigger on a trade or signed a FA. I think they have a plan, it could be a bad plan, but I think they have one. I don't think that plan includes spending multiple high picks to move up for a WR. I could be wrong.
