Packers 2022 Draft Thread

All depends on if Jenkins is ready to go by Week 1.
I do see him as an OT though.

Also, factor in that they need to be developing an eventual replacement for Bak, maybe even needed by 2023.

The eventual need is part of why I was suggesting that a developmental tackle later in the draft could be in the mix.

Their line depth kinda depends on how you view Jenkins. If we assume that Jenkins is an OT then they have BahkT, Jenkins, and Nijman at OT. At OG they have Runyan, Newman and Van Lanen. I suppose you could include Myers at OG if we think Hanson could take over at OC in a pinch and Myers could move to OG. I haven't seen enough of Hanson to say that's viable right now when the games count.

Newman was so-so at best last year. Runyan was steady but not special. I actually wouldn't mind a Day 2 pick at OG to elevate that position, and a Day 3 swing player (or a developmental OT). That would maybe have Newman coming off the bench as the top back-up at OG and Nijman off the bench when Jenkins is back, as the top back-up at OT.

I also wouldn't rule out a Rick Wagner/Dennis Kelly type signing after the draft to cover the OT spot in case Jenkins isn't ready or Nijman isn't good at RT.

I understand the logic.
I just see it a little different.

Use an earlier pick on OT and a mid-latter round pick on an IOL.

My feeling is that you can play that mid-round IOL much sooner than an mid-round OT.
Both Runyan and Newman were 5th round picks, and (honestly) I think Van Lanen is better suited inside as well.

I think they need that extra OT in case either Bak or Jenkins has a set back.

Since the Packers have 3 7th round picks perhaps using one on this guy if he's there? Maybe he could help on the ST's.

This is an interesting one: Former Maryland Lacrosse Tewaaraton winner Jared Bernhardt, who transferred to Ferris State and led them to the football D2 National Championship as a QB, had a top 30 visit with the Broncos yesterday. He’ll be a WR/KR in the NFL.

The WR rankings are all over the place this year. For example, I think someone pointed out the other day that Simms didn't even have either Ohio State Receiver in his top 5.

Phil Simms smokes drugs I think.

Well it’s Chris Simms….I digress

He had Williams at 1, Watson 2, Pierce 3, Burks 4 and London 5. Wilson should be in that mix but Olave I can see out the top 5 to be fair. It’s a deep class but is there a Chase or even Lamb in this group probably not especially Chase

He had Williams at 1,
Ah ok I thought it was Phil maybe who did that. Williams would be one before the injury now he's IMO at least 4 out of the "big five". Really you have Wilson and London in one tier then have a second tier with Olave, Williams, and Burks. Then after then you go to another tier that are not 1st round quality IMO.

1. Wilson
2. London
3. Olave
4. Williams
5. Burks.

Watson is in that group also and you could take 3 to 6 and not see a big difference and honestly you can nit pick about the top 2 also

I can make the case Watson is round 1

Yeah heard talk of that along with Pickens and Dotson. It's possible one or two of those three could sneak into the 1st round on how teams value them.
