Green Bay will host Kansas City at Lambeau Field in front of a national audience on Monday Night Football.
This is the 23rd consecutive season (1993-2015) that Green Bay is appearing on Monday Night Football, the second-longest streak in the league behind only Denver’s 24-year span (1992-2015). It is the Packers’ lone MNF appearance this season.
The Packers are 14-8-1 at home on MNF, including 4-1 under Head Coach Mike McCarthy.
Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers has a 4-1 record as the starter at home on MNF, completing 92 of 130 passes for 1,045 yards, 11 touchdowns, two interceptions and a passer rating of 116.3.
Of the 10 regular-season matchups between Green Bay and Kansas City, only one took place on MNF, a 23-16 victory by the Chiefs on Nov. 8, 1993, at Arrowhead Stadium.
Monday will be the Chiefs’ fourth trip to Lambeau Field during the regular season and first since 2003.
It is the first time since 2008 that the Packers play their first two home games in primetime.
Green Bay has won eight of its last 10 games against AFC opponents with Rodgers as the starter, including five of the last six.
Rodgers has thrown 11 touchdowns and two interceptions in the last five matchups against the AFC.
Green Bay has faced former Packers assistant coach Andy Reid nine times (including playoffs) since he has become a head coach in the NFL (Philadelphia Eagles, 1999-2012) but this will be the first time since he became the head coach for Kansas City (2013-present). Reid was 5-4 against the Packers as the head coach of the Eagles, but Green Bay has won the last three matchups.
Seven of the previous nine games the Packers have played against teams that have been led by Reid have been decided by seven points or less, including four by three or fewer points.
Monday will be one of two games the Packers play this season against a franchise they faced in the Super Bowl. Green Bay and Kansas City met in Super Bowl I, and later this season the Packers will play the Oakland Raiders, who they faced in Super Bowl II.
The Packers and Chiefs have played 10 times during the regular season, and although Green Bay has only beaten Kansas City twice, one of the two victories came under the guidance of McCarthy (33-22 at Kansas City, 2007).
Monday will be just the second time (Week 3, 1990) the two teams have met in the month of September.
Green Bay will go on the road to play the San Francisco 49ers next week before returning home for two games before the bye.

WITH THE CALL
ESPN is in its 10th season as host of the most successful series in sports television history, Monday Night Football. Play-by-play man Mike Tirico is joined by analyst Jon Gruden for the 46th season of MNF broadcasts, with Lisa Salters reporting from the sidelines.
The contest also will air as a simulcast locally on WBAY (ABC, Ch. 2) in Green Bay and WISN (ABC, Ch. 12) in Milwaukee.
Milwaukee’s WTMJ (620 AM), airing Green Bay games since November 1929, heads up the Packers Radio Network that is made up of 50 stations in five states. Wayne Larrivee (play-by-play) and two-time Packers Pro Bowler Larry McCarren (color) call the action. McCarren first joined the team’s broadcasts in 1995 and enters his 21st season calling Packers’ games. McCarren has four times been voted Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. After originally being paired together in 1999, McCarren and Larrivee enter their 17th season of broadcasts together.
Westwood One Sports will air the game across the country. Kevin Harlan (play-by-play) and Boomer Esiason (analyst) will call the action, with Hub Arkush reporting from the sidelines and Jim Gray hosting the pregame and halftime shows.
The broadcast is also available on Sirius Satellite Radio (WTMJ feed).

WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Green Bay is looking to start 3-0 for the first time since 2011 (13-0) and for the third time under Head Coach Mike McCarthy (2007, 4-0).
Including the postseason, the Packers have won 10 consecutive home games, the third-longest streak of the McCarthy era. (13, 2010-11 / 11, 2012-13).
A win would give Green Bay its fourth victory in the last five games against AFC teams.
The Packers’ offensive line has only given up two sacks in the first two games of the season (tied for fifth fewest in the NFL). It is the fewest a Green Bay offensive line has allowed in the first two games since 2008 (one).
Green Bay has registered a sack in 38 consecutive regular-season games, a franchise record and the longest current streak in the league.

OFFENSE
If QB Aaron Rodgers throws for 300-plus yards, it will be the 41st 300-yard passing game of his career during the regular season.
Rodgers has recorded a passer rating of 100-plus in each of the first three games of the season once in his career (2011, first 12 games).
Dating back to 2014, Rodgers has not thrown an interception in 15 of the last 18 regular-season games, including the last four. The Packers are 14-1 in those games.
Rodgers last threw an interception at home on Dec. 12, 2012, vs. Minnesota.
The last time Rodgers threw multiple interceptions at home was Oct. 24, 2010, vs. Minnesota.
Rodgers has recorded a passer rating of 100-plus in 13 of the last 18 regular-season games.
WR Randall Cobb needs one reception to extend his streak of consecutive regular-season games with a reception to 43.
Cobb registered the 11th 100-yard receiving game of his career, and first of this season, last week against Seattle (116 yards on eight catches). He looks to post back-to-back 100-yard receiving games for the fourth time in his career (2012, 2013, 2014).
WR James Jones has registered three touchdown receptions so far this season.
Dating back to last season (with Oakland in 2014), Jones has registered a touchdown reception in four of the last five games. He has totaled five touchdown receptions over that span.
If Jones records a receiving touchdown, it will be the fourth time in his career he has registered one or more touchdown receptions in three consecutive games (2011, twice in 2012).

DEFENSE
LB Julius Peppers leads the Packers with 2.5 sacks this season. Dating back to last regular and postseason, he has seven sacks in the last six games.
Peppers has registered three-plus sacks in the first three games he has played in a season twice in his career (three in 2002 / four in 2006).

SPECIAL TEAMS
K Mason Crosby (273) is five field-goal attempts short of surpassing Ryan Longwell (277) for the most in team history. Last week, Crosby (1,057) passed Longwell (1,054) for the franchise career scoring record.
WR Ty Montgomery ranks No. 2 in the NFL in kickoff return average this season (31.3). In Week 1, he recorded a kick return of 46 yards, the longest kick return by a Packer since a 70-yarder by S Micah Hyde vs. Pittsburgh on 12/22/13.

THE DOPE ON THIS WEEK’S OPPONENT:

ANDY REID…Is in his third year as the Chiefs’ 13th head coach.

During his time in Philadelphia, he was named NFL Coach of the Year three times, captured six division titles and earned five trips to the NFC Championship Game and one to the Super Bowl.
Prior to becoming the head coach in Philadelphia, he spent seven seasons (1992-98) on Green Bay’s coaching staff.
Also coached on the collegiate level at Brigham Young (1982), San Francisco State (1983-85), Northern Arizona (1986), Texas-El Paso (1987-88) and Missouri (1989-91).

THE PACKERS-CHIEFS SERIES
The first meeting between the teams came in January 1967 when the NFL champion Packers met the AFL champion Chiefs in the first-ever Super Bowl, won by the Packers, 35-10.
Kansas City has had the upper hand in the series ever since. The Chiefs have the highest winning percentage against the Packers (7-2-1, .750) among NFL teams.
When the Packers visited Kansas City in 2007, it was their first trip since 1996, and they broke a five-game losing streak to the Chiefs by winning 33-22.
This matchup will mark the fourth time the teams will meet at Lambeau Field, with the Packers seeking their first-ever regular season win vs. the Chiefs at home.

I think packers win 24-20. Jamal Charles is the only real threat on their offense. I think he will get about 100 yards and a couple TD'S but packers offense will be just a little better with Rodgers having 3 TD'S

Combined gut and mind think opinion only on my part.

Kansas City Chiefs are arising from the deepest darkest of fandom abyss and are alight with hope and Andy Reid. I think Andy and the Chiefs are a very good fit. They may be currently 1 and 1 but I got this hunch they are going to go on a hot streak this season. Andy, just like our own MM is one hey of an NFL Coach. I respect Andy.

It's the only game in the nation being Monday Night Football. So once again PRIME TIME. I give thanks this game will be played at Lambeau Field.

This game everything will count during actual play itself - the foundation is going to be who has THE BEST GAME PLAN. Who did their best film and homework study? Who did the best team preparation possible for their opponent?

It may be foolish to say aloud - this year Kansas City may build the propensity to absolutely "blow out" several teams in winning. Packers cannot let this happen here at home. I am excited about this game - even more so than the Seahawks game. I'm feeling a possible see-saw - shoot out - barn burner - some hard, clean and fast football - 60 minutes worth. It may even come down to final possession - final 2 minutes of the game.

Are the Packers up to an absolute 60 hard minutes of football - offence - defense - special teams? - Here's to #GOPACKGO - WIN! - Kaye

Barclay against Houston is a bad proposition for us. The match up on the other side isn't much better. You'll be seeing Rodgers running for his life on Monday but the bonus is even with that Rodgers is just so damn good he'll make it work.

Defensive game plan will be much the same this week only a little more aggressive as they shouldn't have to spy Smith like the did Wilson.

In any case it's in GB and we just seem to roll at home. 30-16 Packers

The extra day of rest is huge for Lacy and Adams. Hopefully they're able to suit up, because IMO the Chiefs are an even better defensive unit right now than Seattle. Their secondary is arguably the best in the league now that Berry appears healthy and fully recovered.

It's gonna be a tough game. But right now we have to be favored against anyone at home. If this defense comes to play like they did last night against the run, we can shut down that offense. They don't have any vertical threats and Smith doesn't take many deep shots. Kelce and Maclin are the only guys you need to worry about covering.

Trust your corners, play single coverage and stack the box. We hold Charles under 120 yards and I don't see how we lose.

Alex Smith may not throw picks but all he does is throw horizontal and Chiefs WRs haven't scored a TD since 2013.

That defensive front 7 vs. Barclay and Bakhtiari concerns me.

I hope the Chiefs are still devastated with how they lost. FCC(

Also I'm glad this isn't at Arrowhead. That stadium is on par with Seattle with how tough it is to play at.

I'd like to mention two things that concern me:
1- Travis Kelce. Unlike Jimmy Graham, Kelce fits his offense and is a prime target for his QB. We need a DB on him, not a LB.
2- Our WR health. KC's CBs are pretty damn good and if our WRs can't get separation ARod will be hard pressed with their top notch pass rushers.

Sorry, but got a bad feeling. KC 27-21.

Agree, Six. Hyde will cover Kelce.

The key to protecting AR will be running the football. If Lacy is unable to go, than Starks will have to step up again. We will need a balanced attack against the Chiefs defense to win.

Also, I think ST's and winning the battle of field position will be a premium in this game.

Best way to keep the DEs from pinning ears back is an effective run game and good screen passes whether to Cobb Mongomery or one of the halfbacks or fulback
