Official Packers Off Season Thread

But the number of injuries hitting those 2 offensive units contributed to our offensive struggles IMO. It didn't help that our fabulous QB had an off year - at least off for him. I can think of several NFL starting QBs who wouldn't mind having his numbers from this year.
MM during the SB year... "injuries are never an excuse for us... it's the guy up" end quote. Every team in this league is hit hard with them... Carolina lost a ton offensively in pre season... The Vikings lost a starting OT and a Center. Both those teams overcame it and adapted.

Big difference between losing a guy for the season and being able to replace them rather than having them either play injured or miss time here and there. Packers had all 5 starters on the OL on the injury report, missing practice and games. MM never used injuries as an excuse and I don't really think we are either. It was reality that the injuries hurt this team significantly. I know some of you will come back with depth is key and we had no depth but no team has that much depth. Green Bay carried 8 OL players. 5 were hurt at one time. Green Bay had 6 WR and Cobb, Adams, Montgomery, and Abbredaris all missed time and/or played hurt. For the most part there was no "next" man to step up.

This season was sort of the perfect storm.

I have heard the same song and dance for 3 years. The last 2 OK but this year after starting 6-0 and listening to all the SB hype etc .. no sir you can't play the perfect storm and injury card. The team took a step backwards. Losing the North at home and getting beat by Chicago on Thanksgiving in a very important game are inexcusable.

The twist on the Vikings......they were the only team in the NFL last year who started the same 5 guys on the OL for the whole season. That is a different angle on the constant shuffling some other teams had to do. Plus, they were one and done.
Just saying.

The 6-0 start was smoke and mirrors. We did not play a winning team with a winning record till Denver, looked flat in the opener in Chicago, and struggled at SF. Did it take a step backwards yes

Correct however they lost 2 starters in preseason... I heard on this very board they were toast. Guess not

You can argue what could have been and or why but the fact remains we failed to get our goal a SB. Off season one would hope MM/TT would swallow a little pride and look at adding a few players and reexamine their approach to the offensive game planning and some internal coaching issues.

If not we will be right back here next January rehashing this over and over again.bh(

Hmm, maybe. The TD:INT ratio was very good as always, but his YPA was putrid. It's almost unfathomable for him to drop from consistent top 3 in the league in that stat to bottom 2. Speaks not only to the lack of receiving threats but also a distinct fall off in his play. Generally I think Packer fans are a spoiled bunch, myself included. Rodgers has been a historically productive and efficient QB and - I've been saying this since pre-Jordy injury - the efficient and torrid pace of scoring we saw last year was not likely to be repeated this year regardless, so fans were going to have to get used to a return to the mean so to speak. Even still, this year was a cluster of physical inability and mental and emotional stagnation on all parts, coaches and players and front office. I'm still relatively optimistic because this group has done it before, but a lot didn't work this year and they need to make changes, and they certainly can't afford to go into another season with glaring holes at certain position groups again.

I suspect Rodgers wasn't 100% this year. I can't think of any other reason for a player with his skills to play this poorly from one season to the next. It isn't like he's approaching 40 and

Yes, when a particular position gets hit by numerous injuries there isn't a next man up. It is no coincidence our offense struggled with both WR and OL ravaged by injury.

They might have won the NFCN but what good did it do them? They lost in the playoffs too. Only one team is gonna be happy when the season is over.
