Official 2020 Packers Training Camp Thread

Looks like the Packers are trying to lock up Bak before the season starts. If they do, it might be tough to lock up both AJ and King.

seems like that might be why they picked up dillon this year. if dillon's as good as advertised, jones should bring a decent comp pick in the 2022 draft. they have to retain bakh because they are surely going to lose linsley and taylor and they need to keep some continuity on the o-line.

It’s also why they picked up Patrick Taylor as an UDFA.
His draft stock cratered because of his Lisfranc injury and two surgeries.
He’s likely on the shelf this year to get back to 100%, and if he can do that and return to his 2018 type form/performance, then they got a steal!

Reading on him he also is a project back is not a good blocker does not do much at 2nd or 3rd level. They say he has good vision to spot holes and is a big back and catch the ball well. He is a guy you put on your PS this year and then see if you can teach him how to pass block and maybe he can be a guy to repalce Jamall Williams if he would leave as a FA

PS only if they bring him off the NFI list.
It’s why I said the may just shelve him for the year and let him heal back to 100%.
They don’t have to PS him in order to keep him

Think they might trade Linsley, get out from under that $11mil. Maybe get another 6'4" WR who runs a 4.6.

You have nothing at center to replace him though. I rather pay LInsley this year then have a huge hole at center. Lucas Patrick is just a backup quaity not starter Also no team will give you anything for Linsley in a trade with his salary and being a FA.

Interesting thought, regarding replacing Linsley.
It would be a high risk move with Patrick and a Hanson as the likely candidates to replace.
Does Patrick have starter potential. Big question mark.
Hanson is a rookie who missed out on his first off season after the draft. Linsley started as a rookie and both he and a Hanson were Day 3 draft picks (Linsley 5th round #161; Hanson 6th round #208), so there are some parallels.
I guess there are two factors here.
1) How desperate are they for cap space to sign guys (like Bak, King, Jones) now?
2) What level of confidence do they have in Patrick & Hanson?

Linsley started becaues Tretter was hurt though remember had Tretter been healthy Linsley would have spent hsi rookie year as a backup

True. But Tretter never won back the starter role either.

Just saying it’s an interesting and high risk thought to make a change at Center, but it’s also not out of the question

another possibility is moving jenkins to center - where he played well in college, and putting patrick at guard. your idea is probably better, but my point is that they have options (maybe not great ones) if they wanted to get something for linsley before he hit the free agency market.
