Bucks vs Suns NBA Finals Thread

Exactly the point. They play as a team without Giannis. With him, it's a one-man-show, and they stand around and watch. It's up to Bud to develop an offense that's inclusive with Giannis on the floor, and it's just plain not happening. He doesn't seem to coach the nuts and bolts of the game, just throws out a lot of cliques, as I said earlier.

Good point on the Bucks not having any trade capital left to make a run at it after this year. Picks gone, top contracts full, and several guys who will be free agents who weren't really used wisely this year, and will probably be gone when the season is over. They'll be the scapegoats as to "why" they didn't win the whole thing. Some of them will be relieved to be out of there.

Connaughton has a player option at over $5 mill. Those who are on the Bird list are Portis, Divincenzo, Forbes, Merrill, Nwora, and Bryant. How many of them will be available when the season starts? Obviously Portis, as a UFA will get the biggest offers, as for the rest? Who knows. DiVincenzo will probably see an offer bigger than the $3.3 mill he has on the books for the year, so once again, we'll see what happens.

Something to think about. Is Bud afraid of offending Giannis by actually coaching him to do what he wants him to? He seems to be more like his caddy at times.
Bucks already picked up DiVincenzo's option for 21/22 so he will be back.

Good game. After sports writers talked about the Bucks not moving the ball around, standing around on the court, and generally watching Giannis create shots on his own, they decided to act like a team. They out-passed, out-shot, and out-disciplined the Suns, playing a lot of straight up defense to alter shots, that was lacking for two games.

The more inclusion they get of Connaughton and Portis into the lineup, the better they play. The objective is to be able to play against a much younger team. It appears they even ran the legs off Devin Booker last night. He sat the entire 4th quarter.

Let's see.... point at who did well? I'll go with the entire team. The passing was crisp, and the majority of the 3 looks were open shots, not contested because of a lack of ball movement. The defense was superb at times. A few lapses, but you expect that.

"IF" the rest of the Bucks team continues to play with the same intensity of Giannis, they can roll through 3 more wins in a row and win it in 6. Their whole game is predicated on their intensity. It's either there, with crisp play, or it isn't. That lack of consistency is what gets them in trouble.

Last night, Portis and Connaughton were important cogs in the game. I don't know if that's because the players decided that, or Bud. But, I do know Bud was not playing Portis much in game 2, and that was a mistake. He showed what he's got last night. Maybe it was tired legs? Hard to say.

looking at the box score, the one thing that stands out is that every single player for the suns was minus, and every single player for the bucks (except forbes) was plus. holiday was +22! giannis was +20 and portis was +19.

i'm not sure how often we can count on that happening, but it shows that when the bucks play together as a team, they are pretty hard to beat.

Bucks backs were against the wall they know they lose one in MKE and go down 3-1 the series is not going to end in their favor so they have to tie it up 2-2

Back after a much needed weekend in Miami …..

The difference between game 2 and 3 was pretty simple. In Game 2 Phoenix made 75% of their contested shots. The defense in game 2 was actually pretty good. They had multiple chances to flip momentum and could not. Connaughton has a wide open look at a 3 in transition that would have cut the lead to 3 with under 4 to play.

Game 3 Bridges came back to earth, major difference since he was so pedestrian in the LA series and prior. Holiday hit shots in game 3 that he missed in game 2. Nice adjustment on offense letting Middleton play the 2 guard and handle the ball more

Portis played short minutes in game 2 when Bud went small with Giannis at the 5 and it actually cut the lead from 15 to 5 when they made that switch. Last night with Kaminsky in Bud went big with Portis and Giannis and abused Frank low. All about flow of the game

Helps also when you make shots. They had open looks in game 2 and just did not convert, especially Holiday.
