Bucks vs Suns NBA Finals Thread

The question remains. Did they make it this far because of him, or in spite of his being coach? I keep remembering how guys like Jason Kidd were fired. "A good coach, but not the kind of coach who wins championships." That's stuck with me since it happened.

I sense they believe this is the 3rd chance at the brass ring, and that they've had the horses to make it happen. So, what's the last common possibility to why it isn't happening? It has to fall on the coaching staff, right or wrong.

Also remember how late it is who are you going to hire at this point that is out there then coach Bud?

There are guys out there who haven't been head coaches, who have the tools to do a great job. I can't specify who they may be, but I'd say some might even be coaching in the college ranks.

Yes, it appears gloomy out there. But, the Bucks only lost 2 away games. The Bucks were done after losing 2 to the Nets and the opener to the Hawks. But, somehow they got tough and neither, the Nets nor the Hawks, are around.

I think all too frequently the Bucks stand around and watch Giannis too much- like they're just along for the ride. If the Bucks could only play with Giannis like they do without him, I don't think this would be much of a contest.

Fear the Deer. A great Yogi once said, "it ain't over till it's over."

Even if the Bucks lose the series they finally got over that hump of losing before they got to the finals. Now you got to the finals you can build on that. Look back were it went wrong. I still think Middleton is not that 2nd scoring threat that you need to have to be a champion but the Bucks lack tradeable assets and cap space to go find a 2nd big star to put next to Giannis.

Exactly the point. They play as a team without Giannis. With him, it's a one-man-show, and they stand around and watch. It's up to Bud to develop an offense that's inclusive with Giannis on the floor, and it's just plain not happening. He doesn't seem to coach the nuts and bolts of the game, just throws out a lot of cliques, as I said earlier.

Good point on the Bucks not having any trade capital left to make a run at it after this year. Picks gone, top contracts full, and several guys who will be free agents who weren't really used wisely this year, and will probably be gone when the season is over. They'll be the scapegoats as to "why" they didn't win the whole thing. Some of them will be relieved to be out of there.

Connaughton has a player option at over $5 mill. Those who are on the Bird list are Portis, Divincenzo, Forbes, Merrill, Nwora, and Bryant. How many of them will be available when the season starts? Obviously Portis, as a UFA will get the biggest offers, as for the rest? Who knows. DiVincenzo will probably see an offer bigger than the $3.3 mill he has on the books for the year, so once again, we'll see what happens.

Something to think about. Is Bud afraid of offending Giannis by actually coaching him to do what he wants him to? He seems to be more like his caddy at times.
