Bucks vs Hawks Eastern Conference Finals Thread

Just remember watching that series it was like the refs called a ton of ticky tack crap.
We must have watched a different series. Bucks lost that series in Game 6. Were up 20+ and let Philadelphia back in it. Gave them confidence

Did I read this correctly? Do you believe the Suns are a better team, or better coached? Maybe both?
Better balance. Ayton is a stud, Booker can shoot, love what Bridges brings on D. Same with Crowder. And Paul is well really good. I think I goes 7. I watched both matchups this year and just see more balance

Interesting that you say that about the Suns. They do play as a team, not individuals. The individual talent comes through, but their game complements each other. This is the biggest gripe I've had with the Bucks at time. It's there, but it doesn't always take center stage, when it should.

Assuming, and I do mean assuming, that the Bucks and Suns both reach the finals, I'd have to lean slightly towards the Suns. It's that team thing.

I see it more with a “individual” lens and how the team is constructed. Basketball has become of a game on how guards can dominate a game. Paul, Holiday, Young, Booker, Kyrie. The teams that bowed out early like Philadelphia, NY, Miami had weak backcourts. Paul and Booker have such different complimentary skill sets it puts so much pressure on the defense

Paul is not quick but sneaky smart. He finds space and allows Crowder and Bridges to spot up. And Booker. Booker can create his own shot anytime. As to Milwaukee, it’s Giannis and Middleton dependent which is fine but this is one series that Big Ragu will be missed. Major chess match type series.

If Phoenix has a kryptonite is that it’s not deep. Milwaukee also can expose them with their lack of height. It sounds simplistic but it’s really who shoots better. NBA always comes down to 1-2 matchups that you can expose also

Here is where we see it differently. The pro game is not so much a team game as it is matchups, isolation and individual skill sets. College is much more team oriented. I would guess 75% of pro possessions come from penetrating guards and the other 3-4 guys spotting up and shooting. Sure the extra pass is great but it’s more again reading the defense and finding spots. Yes it causes some stagnant sets but that’s why court spacing is so critical. Milwaukee runs some real well designed sets off timeouts but it’s not the core of the offense.

Allen Iverson was one of the NBA poster childs at that time . . . I remember thinking that it felt like one of the most rigged series ever.

He was not the big dog that year. That was Kobe / Shaq. SA had Duncan.

And in Game 7 Bucks shot a blistering 19% from 3

It was the whole series, and yes they bombed in game 7. But the NBA gave Philly every break, and yes, he wasn't the only superstar at that time but they wanted him in the finals rather than Robinson.
