AR Prediction Thread

Two second round picks for Rodgers? I think I'd take that deal. To me, even if it was a second in 2023, and another in 2024. The Packers need to look at this as being a way to shore up a few weaknesses. Having a pair of 2nds in both years would be a great help moving forward.

Funny seeing two fan bases out of touch with reality. Got some Packer fans who think you don't trade Rodgers for anything less than at least a first round pick because you are giving him away otherwise. Then you have Jets fans who think GB has zero say they should just accept whatever NY is offering and be happy with it because they still have choices besides Rodgers.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets “haven’t spoken much in the last week” about a trade that would send four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers to the Big Apple.

Schefter used the words “stalled” and “standoff” about the state of negotiations.

Trade compensation is at the heart of the matter. The Jets don’t want to give up their first-round pick, No. 13 overall. The Packers want that pick “and that’s not all,” Schefter said.

Gute is going to screw this up. He has to back off the 1st round pick demand. Unless GB finds a way to eat some salary they won't get pick 13. Take a 2nd rounder and call it a day.

Take the two 2nd rounders and call it a day. You do not need a conditional pick next year. I would rather have the 2 2nd rounders then the one 1st round pick.

That would be 4 picks in the top 50. (I think you mentioned this, 4ever) You could fill almost all your needs with those 4 picks.

Gute is a moron if he thinks he can get 1st rounder and more.

Reality tells me that neither the Packers nor the Jets will move forward with a deal until after the June deadline, when the Packers can move millions of dollars of cap money into the second year, on Rodgers.

Both teams benefit. The Packers, on cap space, and the Jets, by giving up picks from next year, not this year. It could even sweeten the pot for the Packers to a degree, because of it. The Jets might be willing to up their offer somewhat.

Anyhow, that's the logic I see behind the delay. I say this because I get the sneaking suspicion there's already a deal, in principle, already in place. Just needs the details sorted out.

The Only thing with that for the Jets is that is Arod only plays one year and then says I retire (he was 90% this year remember) than giving up picks next draft for a guy that only plays a year kinda screws them. Only way I see that as a benefit to the Jets is if those picks are conditional 3rd round or later.

Actually it doesn't screw them. They'd get the benefit in advance, and pay for it later. Kind of "credit thing." That could also create a scenario where if there were multiple picks, one or more could be conditional, based on whether or not he returns for a second year with them.

Think outside the box on this one. That's where it's going to end up. Not even close to what would be a conventional trade.
