2024 NFL Season Thread

.......

There you have the Dallas Cowboys, wrapped up into what I've seen of them from day one. I knew Jones was a total ass when he bought the team and immediately fired Tom Landry saying he "Didn't understand the nuances of the NFL." Landry, a man who was beyond reproach as a coach. One of three great coaches from that general period of time. Landry, Shula, and Lombardi, all with the pedigree for success.
Yup - you knew right from the moment he "rudely" fired Tom Landry that Jerry didn't understand how to run a professional football team. And nothing has changed.

Every once in a while he'll find a good coach, and for a period of time, let them do their thing, and even draft according to what the coach wants. Then he turns it back into "his team," and no matter what the coach says, it don't matter.

McCarthy took the job knowing full well that Jones is in full psychopathic know it all mode, and will be making all the decisions, and he should just do what he's told.

If I am a Cowboys fan I am really hoping Jerry kicks the bucket soon

@clarencehilljr

Jerry Jones really said Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy is designing bad plays and bad concepts on offense
The real joke here is that Jerry can't even identify the issues with his team. It's not that the plays are bad, it's that his players have been dogging it. I like McCarthy but this is a pattern for his teams now. And not for nothing, but it's a pattern with Jerry's teams over all. The Lions turned it around only when the owners hired good football people and then got the hell out of the way - and not a minute before. Jerry is wedded to the idea that he and his son ARE the good football people so they don't need to get out of the way. Nothing will change as long as he's alive and the team stays in their hands.

The 2022 Packers offense was an unwatchable mess. The 2023 Jets offense finished with an asterisk. The 2024 Jets offense is an unwatchable mess.

I have been a long time Aaron Rodgers believer and defender and excuse maker, but is this just it for the guy? You can't blame surrounding talent - they have an offensive rookie of the year, another guy who could've won offensive rookie of the year, they have Adams, they have WR and RB depth, they have competent TEs. You can't blame the offensive system because the offensive system is the way it is because Rodgers refuses to play any other way. I was at that game against the Patriots in September and I thought the Jets could go to the Super Bowl but man they just look like they're slopping around in mud on offense, I don't get it. Makes me look at the common denominator through it all.

It's amazing how well the Commanders are playing. They got their franchise QB in the draft, and since Daniel Snyder sold the team, they've gotten continuously better. He was not the kind of person who should own a ball club.
