His sources may be valid but if that report is true, he was a huge a-hole for releasing it the night of the draft.
One thing to consider....usually, not always these type of things need to be cleared by the network, its not a legal thing more of backlash PR thing. I wonder how much, if any ESPN pushed him to break the story to get the scoop

Scheftner could have come out with the story before or after the draft. He was an ass for doing it on draft night he did it for himself and no one else.

Since today's media isn't really hard copy, the only thing that writers get judged on is their following. How many people click on their story, and how many consistently follow what they write.

The more sensational the stories, the more clicks, and it increases followers.

Here's two headlines for a story:

Shepherd protects sheep in pasture

Shepherd thwarts bloody wolf attack to save sheep from being mauled

Which one would you click on? They can be the same story. It's all how you sell it with the headline.

Agree TW a Newspaper by me got blasted for headline they used this week that Said White man keeps black man as slave for years. Turns out nothing to do with race but was a guy who used a mentally handicapped man and did not pay him and made him work long work hours week after week.

If he was told to run with it, thats not his call. Thats how the business works

little known fact.....guys who write stories especially at larger news sources do not write the headlines....different department

The bottom line here.... the story was true. Beyond that remember the Ty Dunne yahoo story all of Packer nation said was BS about Aaron having issues etc almost a year earlier ?? Guess what old Ty actually scooped this deal not the guy on draft night.

As Pack said way way back..... Where there's smoke there's fire.
