Giannis staying in Milwaukee?

Bogdan Bogdanovic really wanted to play with Giannis Antetokounmpo and might have been able to get a slightly more lucrative offer elsewhere in free agency. We still don’t know exactly what Bogdanovic’s new deal with Milwaukee will look like, but Windhorst estimated it’ll start in the $14-15MM range.

  • While nothing has been agreed to yet, Windhorst gets the sense that Holiday is open to an extension (or eventually re-signing in free agency) with the Bucks.
  • The Bucks announced on Tuesday in a press release that they’ve officially hired Mike Dunlap and Josh Oppenheimer, naming them assistant coaches on Mike Budenholzer‘s staff. A report last month indicated that Oppenheimer – who worked in Milwaukee from 2013-16 would be returning to the franchise. Dunlap, who has spent the last six years as the head coach at Loyola Marymount University, previously had a brief stint as the Bobcats’ coach.

Magic have agreed to trade their second-round pick (45th overall) in tonight’s draft to the Milwaukee Bucks for two future second-round picks.

The Bucks appear to be interested in adding second-round picks this year because, due to a CBA quirk, those picks will only count for $898K against both the luxury tax and hard cap if they sign for the minimum. Undrafted rookie free agents, meanwhile, would count for $898K against the cap but about $1.62MM against the luxury tax.

Here is the pick breakdown on the Jrue Holiday trade: New Orleans receives 2020 1st (via IND) 2024 right to swap 2025 1st unprotected 2026 right to swap 2027 1st unprotected

Cleveland will receive a future second from Milwaukee by lifting the protection on the 2022 first (from the George Hill 2018 trade) that the Bucks owe them.

So Bucks have now traded away 4 future 1st rounders and 3 or 4 future 2nd rounders. Giannis would walk after this year Bucks would have zero to rebuild with for nearly a decade

Giannis is not walking

Seeing now the Bucks got picks 42 and 60 in Holliday trade so with Magic trade they have 42,45,60

So add those 3 picks plus use the excemptions to add 2-3 guys you are up to 11-12 man roster. Add a couple guys on two way deals and you are done.

I would not be shocked if they package 1 or 2 to move up or pick a Euro type and stash him for a year

I just mentioned this on Shout. I agree. I think that's the exact route they go. Give the player a year to start to fill out. There are several out there that fit that bill, and if they don't work out, so be it.

I think we just disagree a bit on position. Wing or PG type, guy who it’s the Ragu mold, slasher who can score.
