I'm not buying the jugs machine BS to be honest. If the ball was moving around due to wind, it means they need to work at making the catches. If that's a problem, we've got a problem.

2022 Training Camp Update: August 4th

General:

  • Shoulder pads only today, two hour practice.
  • Jordy Nelson is here watching practice.

Injuries: OL David Bakhtiari (PUP-knee), K Mason Crosby (PUP-knee), OL Elgton Jenkins (PUP-knee), TE Robert Tonyan (PUP-knee), WR Christian Watson (PUP-knee), RB Kylin Hill (PUP-knee), DB Keisean Nixon (NFI-groin)

Not Practicing / Limited: WR Malik Taylor (shoulder), OL Cole Schneider (ankle), RB Patrick Taylor (groin), WR Osiris Mitchell (quad)

Offense:

  • QB Aaron Rodgers just threw a deep ball to Allen Lazard who pulled it in for a TD, stopped at the fence, and made sure he gave the young fan a high five before returning to the huddle.
  • Randall Cobb just snagged a pass in the back of the end zone one-handed near his knees like it was nothing. Just a drill, no defense, but still. It wasn’t a lob ball.
  • WR Amari Rodgers just put Innis Gaines on a spin cycle during the 1 on 1’s, double move over the middle.
  • Watkins - Gafford fun battle but overthrown.
  • Doubs makes a diving catch on an in breaker with Stokes draped all over him in one on ones. Stokes lays on the ground for a minute and claps his hands in frustration but comes over to Doubs to give him a hug and props.
  • Danny Davis had a step on Donte Vaughn but over shot.
  • Hyman tries to make a spectacular deep catch but incomplete.
  • Watkins wins deep for a td vs Shemar.
  • Winfree just put Gafford in a blender double move over the middle. Totally turned him around. Wide open completion.
  • Toure beats Amos 1x1 in red zone 1x1 period.
  • Sal Canella knows how to run a route. Easy separation vs S. Davis.
  • Beautiful back-shoulder ball from Rodgers to Tyler Davis for a TD. Scott in good position, but it was a “WTF” kinda completion.
  • Two tries in one on ones, Slaton goes absolutely nowhere against Runyan. Teaching tape from the Packers guard.
  • 1st OL: Yosh - Runyan - Myers - Newman - Tom
  • A scrambling Rodgers pump fakes to get Quay Walker to bite and give him room to run for first down. Rodgers playfully points at Walker after the play.
  • 2nd OL: Van Lanen - Menet - Hanson - Rhyan - Caleb Jones
  • Love skips one to Doubs on a perfectly-designed WR screen to the left. Looked like just a bad throw.
  • Botched toss from Rodgers to Lazard on a reverse. 12 looked unhappy with Myers(?) but idk why. Preston recovers.
  • Rodgers hits Lazard on a deep crossing route, got away from Douglas. Pretty.
  • Leavitt all over Dafney in the flat.
  • Just ran an option keeper for Jordan Love in team period for a nice gain. Haven’t seen that much.
  • Hyman catches a contested catch over the middle with Vernon Scott in very tight coverage. Hyman’s already got a couple catches again. He’s made the most of his opportunities.
  • Rodgers just threw an absolute dime to Tyler Davis, who had Rasul beat by a good step, wide open on a corner route for about a 50-yard TD. Rodgers throwing on a fade away under pressure too.
  • Rodgers sooo good at navigating traffic, finds a short no-look check down to Dillon where most qbs would have panicked.
  • Rodgers throws just high to Lazard over the middle. Looked like Savage grabbed him. Flat.
  • Quay telegraphs a blitz but gets right through the line anyway. Rodgers is able to scramble to his right and hit Deguara over the middle. Rodgers in the zone so far today.
  • Rodgers overthrows Cobb on a deep corner route.
  • I have watched our fair share of Aaron Rodgers play action, but that fake handoff to AJ Dillon got us all. He rolled right and we were all watching Dillon go up the middle, only to see Rodgers hit Lazard for a first down along the right sideline who had a step on Douglas.
  • Lazard with a fantastic down block on Ramsey to spring a run to the outside.
  • Rodgers hits Cobb short right, quick stop by Douglas.
  • Tyler Goodson with a hell of a run to the outside. Great hesitation move to spring him for extra yards. And follows it up with a huge run left with another great hesitation and cut. Huge two plays for 39.
  • Great blitz pickup again from BJ Baylor. Dude can block his ass off. Gave Love time to hit Toure on a slant with a nice throw for a TD but the rookie receiver drops it.
  • Doubs makes a nifty grab on a shallow cross with McDuffie all over him.
  • Caleb Jones has had a couple of real nice pass pro sets today.
  • Completion to Aaron Jones out of a 4x1 set and Jones in the slot. Huge play to start 2minute.
  • Rodgers to Tyler Davis over the middle to keep the drive moving.
  • No look checkdown from Rodgers to Dillon who gets out of bounds.
  • Incomplete over the middle to Dillon - probably a good thing for the offense time-wise.
  • Rodgers hits Watkins on a slant. Clock ticks.
  • Loves turn in 2 minute. 1st play - incomplete to Doubs - qb and wr not on the same page.
  • Love to Goodson over the middle.
  • Love gets a second 2 min drill. Complete to Doubs on back to back plays - the second play was a fantastic diving catch.
  • Love throws deep middle and should have been picked by Gaines. Toure had Gaines beat but Love undercooked it. Lucky it wasn’t picked.
  • Nice find on a checkdown to Baylor. First down.
  • Hyman tries to make a juggling catch but it falls incomplete.
  • Young players team period and BJ Baylor gets setup perfectly on a screen play. Van Lanen, Rhyan, and Doubs (of course) leading the way.
  • Doubs gets paid off on the next play with a catch on a slant.
  • Tyler Goodson is feeling himself today. Great run up the middle.
  • Love finds Hyman in the back corner of the end zone. Beautiful throw and a leaping touchdown grab for Hyman. Love’s best throw of the day.
Defense:

  • Jaire tight coverage and pbu vs Lazard on hitch from Rodgers.
  • Vernon Scott good coverage on T Davis.
  • Ento with gorgeous coverage and a pick on Winfree on a go route from Love. Beautiful play.
  • Rasul Douglas is so smooth when transitioning from coverage to playing the ball. Just jumped an out route vs. Randall Cobb in 1 on 1s and, without breaking stride, picked a Jordan Love pass for 6. Went the other way quick.Back-to-back picks by JLo
  • Gafford doesn't bite on a Watkins double move, sticky.
  • Innis Gaines just got the whole defense lit with great PBU on Amari Rodgers in the red zone drills. Rasul Douglas and company came up to Gains and went crazy.
  • Thomas great pbu vs Hyman. Physical coverage.
  • Gafford breaks up jump ball to Doubs in endzone.
  • Shemar good coverage on Winfree.
  • Shawn Davis looked to be holding Mack.
  • Runs outside seem futile against Campbell & Quay. One of them always there. This time it was Campbell for the “stop” on Dillon.
  • Lowry nice job resetting the line of scrimmage on a run play.
  • Rashan Gary in the backfield. Again.
  • Gary just went beast for a run stop.
  • Romeo Doubs just got his first taste of Smash Amos. Deep crosser and Amos cleanly laid him out (by accident) while breaking up the pass from Rodgers. Amos helped Doubs up afterward. Love a secondary that know they have every right to the ball too.
  • Amos is smashing today. Thud against Aaron Jones on a run inside.
  • Rodgers ball tipped at the line by Garvin or Clark - Quay Walker with the easy interception.
  • T.J. Slaton blows up a running play with the twos in 11-on-11.
  • McDuffie with a run stop on Baylor.
  • TJ Slaton blows up a run play in the backfield.
  • Donte Vaughn tight coverage on the outside on a Love throw for a pbu.
  • Jonathan Garvin fantastic pressure - I think against Zach Tom.
  • Garvin beats Tom next rep too.
  • And Amos shuts it down. Huge jump ball pick off Rodgers in the end zone. Deguara the intended receiver. 1st team defense wins the 2 min drill.
  • Love stripped, ball floats in the air, Tipa picks it and returns for a td. Defense balling again.
  • Donte Vaughn pbu to end the 2nd team's 2nd 2 min drill. Doubs was the receiver.
  • Jonathan Ford with an impressive run stop. He’s got a real chance as #6 defensive lineman.
Special Teams:

  • After being criticized publicly ally for its performance two days ago - the jugs machine hits two clean punts. Love to see the response to adversity.
  • Romeo Doubs’ has a legit chance to win the #1 punt return job. He looks so clean catching the ball, gets up field fast and utilizes his speed. Looks very natural.
  • Amari and Gafford sticking around after practice catching punts from the JUGGS machine.

Practice has ended after 1 hr 50 min.

Next Event:
Family Night, August 5th 7 PM CT.

Presser:

  • HC Matt LaFleur said he has a new JUGS machine on order.
  • LaFleur says there "potentially" will be live tackling at Family Night.
  • Matt LaFleur says he doesn’t expect Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon to play in the first preseason game.
  • Matt LaFleur on Rasul Douglas: "The thing I love about him, and you don't always see it with corners, is he's a physical guy and isn't afraid to put his nose in there and make a hit."

Defective JUGS? Geezuz.. wth do they think balls will turn over perfectly during live game situations? Catch the damn ball..

Thing is you figure they would have several machines and in case one breaks you pull the other out to use.
