Packers 2023-24 Season Thread

So far, I've been impressed with the play of a few players. Love and Doubs particularly come to mind. The season itself is going about as well as I expected. It's fantastic watching a team trying to rebrand itself at QB, after having so many years of consistently high level play out of the position.

As I've said repeatedly, I saw this as a 7 win season, and anything above that was gravy. If that's as bad as it gets, with the turmoil and cap problems they have, I'd say it's been successful. Because there's no doubt it can go up from there, and not many teams can turn things around that quickly.

The only quasi-disappointment I have is in the defense, but when I consider the massive number of injuries that have hobbled front line starters, and specialists, I'm not even going to go off on them, but I will say that the coaches need to find avenues to harness what they do have available, not keep repeating the mistakes, and expect something different to happen, like LeFleur said himself.

When I look at the loss of the two pro bowl level offensive linemen that makes up the left, I totally understand how difficult it has to be for the coaches to come up with lineups that work, when the entire left side was in a state of flux since before the season began.

I think it was a bad mistake if anyone believed that either Bakh or Jenkins were going to be a serious part of any of our offense this year. It was doomed from the start, and everyone should have seen it, and prepared accordingly. Sadly, they didn't, and here we are, with gus running in and out of the lineup as they search for a combination that can at least represent an NFL offensive line. If they get this right, and some of the defensive players actually heal, and can help the team, they could exceed those 7 wins. But, until I see #8 going up on the board, I will doubt it happening.

There's also an elephant in the room that we need to address. The offensive line is so porous that there's the possibility of Love getting injured. What happens then?
Clifford becomes Tom Brady! hgh)

This would be worse case for GB. Also wonder if GB might have to wait until TC starts to cut him. If he can't pass a physical say in March when new league year starts GB can't cut him so they would have to wait until TC starts and players report and take their physical if he passes that then they could cut him. If not GB is pretty much screwed to try to extend him into 2025 him just because they could not take on a 40 million cap hit for a guy who likely is never going to play again.

And DB should absolutely collect every dollar he can. It’s his right and he shouldn’t give any of it up. His knee is messed up because of football, then football should pay for it..

The number of players who end up in wheel chairs way too early in life, and those who have other serious health situations because of the game, makes it imperative that these guys get what they can, when they can, and don't give an inch. No matter what, he earned the contract because of his play. The money they give him, is not really theirs, it's money they get to pay them, from the public and media. Not one nickel should be surrendered by the players when it comes to injuries.

Not sure why Ingalls engages in this catastrophizing nonsense. If GB doesn’t want him then they will work with DB and his agent to do what’s needed so they can move him. They accommodated trade requests from Adams and Rodgers, they’ll do the same for DB if that’s where things go. They’re all professionals here. This whole “oooo look how bad it can get!” is clickbait.

I think Ingalls is just saying if this surgery does nothing to fix Baks knee and he can't play on it any longer GB can't cut him because he's not healthy nothing that GB does not want him just because

Basically - if David can’t pass a physical his 2024 salary cap situation can become as difficult & painful as he is willing to make it.Restructuring, pay cut, void years, retiring, injury grievance are all options completely within Bakhtiari’s control & contractual rights.

I don’t know DB, im not his friend, i don’t know much of anything about the guy personally but nothing about but how he has conducted himself over the last 10 years remotely suggests that if he can’t physically play that he will sit around and demand to be kept on the roster while not playing. Can he? Yes. Will he? Absolutely not.

He's due $21.4 million in cash next year. If he would be willing to say screw that and walk away from that I would have a lot of respect for him. But I also would not blame him to say screw GB pay me they money as it's not my fault I destroyed my knee playing for you guys.
