The Green Bay Packers travel to Kansas City for a Sunday night matchup against the Chiefs.

It will be the 12th regular-season game between the Packers and Chiefs, but the first Sunday night matchup between the two.
It is the third time the two have faced off in primetime, having previously played two games on Monday Night Football (1993, 2015).
It is Green Bay’s first regular-season visit to Arrowhead Stadium since Week 15 in 2011.
Green Bay has won two of the last three games against Kansas City.

Both teams lead their division heading into Week 8 and are each one of four teams in their conferences to have at least five wins this season.
It is the second game of a stretch of three straight games against AFC West teams, the first time the Packers have had three straight games against AFC teams since playing the AFC West in 2003 in Weeks 15-17.

Green Bay is 15-3 against AFC West teams since 2002, an .833 winning percentage that ranks No. 1 in the NFL over that span.
With the victory in Week 7 over Oakland, the Packers improved to 8-0 against the Raiders, dating back to 1990. Green Bay won four of those eight games by 28-plus points (10, 30, 31, 34, 4, 28, 13, 18). The eight-game streak is Green Bay’s longest active winning streak vs. an opponent, with the second longest being a seven-game win streak against the San Diego/L.A. Chargers, who the Packers face in Week 9.
This is an abbreviated version of the Dope Sheet. Read the full version here (PDF).

GOOD START

Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur is the first head coach in franchise history to win six of his first seven NFL games.
Green Bay has started the season with at least six wins in its first seven games for the first time since starting 6-1 in 2015 and the seventh time since 1970 (7-0 in 2011, 6-1 in 2007, 2002, 1996 and 1978).
The Packers (2-0) are one of seven teams to be undefeated on the road this season. Green Bay won its first two road games for the first time since 2015. If they win this week, it will be the first time the Packers have started 3-0 on the road since starting 7-0 in 2011.
Green Bay joins the New England Patriots (7-0), San Francisco 49ers (6-0) and the New Orleans Saints (6-1) as the only NFL teams with at least six wins this season.
The Packers have started 3-0 in the NFC North for the first time since 2012 and for just the fourth time (2011 and 2002) since the division was formed in 2002.
Out of the 26 teams that have played multiple division games this season, Green Bay joins New England and Dallas as the only teams to be 3-0, and is one of eight teams with multiple wins against division opponents.

Packers catch a break somewhat with Mahomes being out but KC will still be no easy pushover. They will be coming out on primetime at home wanting to show they can do it with or without their MVP. The weakness to KC is their run D. Packers can get Jones and Williams going early the Packers may be able to get control of the game early. Packers defense will need to tigthen up. The KC offense is better then the Raiders and if the Packers give KC the same chances they gave the Raiders I think KC will taken advantage of them. Still I think without Mahomes the Packers will have the edge in this game and it will be a tight game that comes down to the very end.

Going against Matt Moore like this is the type of game where Mike McCarthy would fall flat on his face. He'd do well against the starter, but his teams would disappoint when they had a chance like that.

Chiefs are coming off 10 days of rest. I think we can get them, but it won't be easy.

They've already lost at home twice this year. Their defense is terrible. No Mahomes and Moore was trying to become a coach before Henne got injured. Their run game hasn't really done anything this year. No excuse to not win this one.

Since Super Bowl 1 in 67’ the Packers are 3-6-1 against the Chiefs.
They wrecked a potential perfect season in 2011.

Mahomes or no Mahomes, this will be a tough game in a very hostile venue.

Packers need to bring their A+ game.

I will be there to kick them in the butt if necessary.

At Lambeau Field, I'd be picking the Packers by 10. On the road? Not that simple. Rodgers is a .500 QB on the road. The Chiefs are 1-2 at home this year. Normally, the Chiefs would have a 3 point home field advantage, if all things were equal.

Throw it all out. The Packers offense moves the ball better than KC. The defenses are about even. I'm going to go with GB winning this one. I think we're the better team. Would I feel the same if Mahomes played? I honestly believe it would be a good game. Very close.

Packers 27 Chiefs 20

Rodgers is a .500 QB on the road.
This stat is absolutely maddening to me. How many times did Rodgers bring a team from behind in heroic fashion only to have the D blow it in the next series. His road stats are better than 90% of QBs career stats. Wins and losses are a team stat. There are only 15 QBs with a higher passer rating in their career than Rodgers has in 85 road games.

On the road, and to use a Kirk Herbstreit line "in a hostile enviorment" on Sunday night. Moore is not Mahomes but they have other weapons with speed. Offense will be fine vs KC defense but my fear is the defense will give up big chunks especially on the back end.

KC 34 GB 31

IMO KC didn't look any different with Moore at QB than Mahomes (hobbled Mahomes, that is).

I wonder, though, if an offense like KC is actually a better match for us than a bruising offense like Oakland? KC has Kelce but you can treat him like a great WR. Anything that allows us to play with more DBs and puts less stress on multiple ILBs to play the whole game and cover generally plays into our hands. What's given us the most trouble this year seems to be offenses that can pound the ball between the guards. It forces us to go big inside with 3 DL and 2 ILB and that starts a whole cascade of general mismatches.

For the folks in the desert, KC opened as 4.5 point favorites, and money quickly swung to GB, who are now favored by 4/4.5. Don't see that every week.
