2024 Draft Thread

There are three phases leading up to the draft. Phase 1, people get their impressions from game play and injuries and make boards/mocks accordingly. Phase 2, combine and workouts happen and people get in a tizzy over certain numbers and start moving guys around. Phase 3, mid/late April, everyone forgets the numbers and goes back to their initial impressions.

We are in early Phase 2

Little surprised at WR in round 3. Think we need to still go WR that early desite the success we had last year with the group we had?

Burton is too talented to let go..... surround Love with playmakers and talent. We failed to do that with Rodgers and did what for 10 yrs? Close but no cigar.
There’s also just the process - if the draft is loaded with fast WR this year, wouldn’t it be foolish to pass on them to force a pick elsewhere at a weaker spot?

Looking at past the NFL is about a week away from announcing the comp picks.

Not sure how correct this is but here is who Packers spoke with at the Combine. If you click on X/tweet it will show you more names in the response under main post

follow up with this draft... that 1st rounder won't happen but when a guy drops like that you have to grab them.

The Jonathan Brooks pick is either going to be a huge success, or a colossal mistake. He's younger than most guys coming out, but needs to do some work in the weight room to get up into the 220# to 225# range. He's shy of that, and since he isn't that good in making cuts, he's going to need to have added strength to break tackles with minor changes of direction. It's very possible he can do this. It's also quite possible he will fail miserably. He's one of those risks that could pay off in huge dividends, or rob us of a pick. Of course, getting him this low, wouldn't be a bad situation whatsoever. Personally, I think he's going to go a little bit earlier. But, that's just opinion.

Graham Barton at #41 would be a real catch, in my opinion. This guy is going to be someone's left tackle for a decade, and a regular member of the All Pro selections, after one or two years of service.
