A few thoughts here.
First while some are looking to improve thru free agents, the key to quality depth is undrafted free agents. No team can pay for studs at every position. NFL has become more like college, u have to keep developing players and replacing players every 3-4 years. Likewise can't expect every udfa to become a stud.
The winning plan is out there by the Pats. Finding players that fit scheme, rolling dice on players, etc. Of course second part is coaching. Believe outside of ST, we have coaching that will only get better.
Believe some here are under value Clark and Martinez. This season have listened to more games then have watched. Listening to Larry in games, both those players are doing more then u might think. What team has needed for years is a coverage/ stud LBer to pair up with Martinez.
QB: The biggest difference between Favre and Rodgers? Rodgers will only throw to he trusts. Favre didn't care and would throw to the open guy regardless.
Offense: Is a double whammy. Rodgers still holds on to ball too long yet on the other hand we have one number one we and a bunch of maybe number 3/4 wrs that don't scare anyone and have troubles getting open.
Mistake made was thinking one of them would step up and become that number 2. Count me in on making the same mistake. This squad is a far cry from Jennings, Nelson, Driver, Cobb.
We definitely need another WR. So would grab one if there and fit in either Rd 1 or 2. But rookies seldom make the impact til year two. Therefore will suggest an unpopular move....sign AB. He's a future HOF proven WR. Would be big time rolling the dice, but a year out would hope he's done some soul searching. Wolf took the chance on Rison. AB wants a ring and we need a WR, other contenders don't need him, so think we would have a better shot then most might think.
O Line: Been saying for over two years we need a RT. Lindsey has more then his share of problems also against good d linemen. Whether that is because of Guards not sure. Depth is also a concern.
TE: Was against signing Graham from start. Wanted to axe him this year and bring Cook back. Tonyan been hurt and don't know what we have in Jace.
Bottom line is we all knew this was a 2 to 3 year rebuild. The fact we have the record we do goes to the new coaching staff and the moves Gute made, but there still work to be done. Plus we also need to start looking for another QB over next 2 years.
