Gute isn't going anywhere, but can the relationship be fixed?? Rodgers makes it sound like Gute shows no respect for what was done before he got there.. that he wants the accomplishments of this team going forward to be about himself
Let me add in Murphy to another guy who is not on 12's Christmas list

I think it came down to commitment. Rodgers wanted a long term commitment from the team in a form of a contract that guaranteed money for years down the line to keep him in GB. Gute and Murphy's job is to look after the team and I think it came down that they felt the did not want to invest that type of money into a QB at his age. When you look at it that way it is likely a smart business choice because QB's have not faired well for the most part past 40. Packers IMO feel it's better to walk away from Rodgers 1-2 years early then be stuck with him 1-2 years to late when his skill is declining and he's not worth what he makes.
Its a bit simpler. Rodgers wanted to leave on his terms not the organization's. You can structure that as player options, void years, name it. The rest is just window dressing, the organization said no.

i listened to the entire interview with mayne on youtube this morning. in your opinion, what did rodgers say. i ask because i've seen many people claim that he said many things that never actually came out of his mouth. what i heard was rodgers repeatedly sidestep giving any kind of meaningful response to mayne's questions. i've even seen many people say that because rodgers is such an evil genius you have to read between the lines and give greater consideration to the things that he did not say, which is the very definition of speculation.

but just so you know where i stand, i want you to know that i do agree with you - the situation seems beyond repair, and the packers need to trade rodgers for whatever they can get - which at this point probably isn't much.
It's not so much what's in the meat of the conversation per se but you can NOT come out and accuse your organization ( not just Football terms but in business etc) of not treating people right, not honoring tradition bh) this is a slap at upper management and your coaching staff RP.

You can NOT undermine the organization and try to be this big rebel leader for change and just walk away from it. He poisoned the well last night from an HR standpoint.

Edit **Gute and Murphy messed this up, if they knew this in February he should have been traded earlier and go into a rebuild. I blame Murphy more than anyone, going back to Favre he sucks at this kind of issue.

Murphy is a former Athletic Director who just has no concept of how pro sports operates now. They live in this world of everyone in the organization is "Packer People", its the legacy, the history and everything will be fine. They can communicate fine with college kids but not professional athletes. Its a business to them as it should be but you cannot run it like the 70" and 80's

You can, but you get what they got in return. The Packers are an atypical organization which Rodgers mentions in one breath and then whines about in the next. I personally don't think they have to "change"..... I do think a very serious conversation about purging some players would have to be had if this swirls out of control... you know for cap purposes ;)

But show me what sports team's let the players have a serious say in the personal. You can probably count the number of teams in all of sports on one hand.

That’s not what the issue is and let’s be clear about that. This is about one guy wanting to go out on his terms.

but they are setting themselves up for another three-decade abyss of cellar dwelling if they continue to ignore the evolution of sports business. imho.

because which players are going to want to play for a team that is stuck in the 70s? they had a chance, bringing in matt lafleur to establish themselves as a whole new organization - on the cutting edge. they could have made green bay a place that players wanted to play - despite all the socio-political negatives.

I think it's part of it. He wanted a say in personal Packers FO would not let him and that's part of his frusation against the FO.

It’s 90% of it. Just piece together his comments out of his mouth
