The Packers have also been around for a long time prior to Gute getting his job, and will probably be around a long time after he's gone. I believe the fault for this situation we are in now lies with both Gute and Rodgers. Players do come and go, but you can both be a fan of the team AND appreciate the talent on the team. You can be a fan of the team and believe that management probably isn't handling a situation the best way they could. But, all that is speculation because we really don't know what interaction there has been between Gute and Rodgers that has led to Rodgers feeling the way it is.

I think it came down to commitment. Rodgers wanted a long term commitment from the team in a form of a contract that guaranteed money for years down the line to keep him in GB. Gute and Murphy's job is to look after the team and I think it came down that they felt the did not want to invest that type of money into a QB at his age. When you look at it that way it is likely a smart business choice because QB's have not faired well for the most part past 40. Packers IMO feel it's better to walk away from Rodgers 1-2 years early then be stuck with him 1-2 years to late when his skill is declining and he's not worth what he makes.

Pretty much every reaction to this situation is speculation based on reading between lines. That may all be true.. we have no idea what the conversations between Gute and Rodgers have entailed

Gute isn't going anywhere, but can the relationship be fixed?? Rodgers makes it sound like Gute shows no respect for what was done before he got there.. that he wants the accomplishments of this team going forward to be about himself
Does it need to be fixed? Once camp starts, Rodgers doesn't need to see Gute or Murphy or think about them. He can back up his own words and play joyous with the coaches and players and fans that he just proclaimed he loves so much.

Gute likely drew the ire of Rodgers because of players he didn't keep around, and for drafting Love, but Murphy seems to be getting away with murder here.

Remember: the number one reason cited by Murphy for changing the structure of the org was communication. That was it! He put himself at the top specifically to avoid this type of situation from happening, where the GM wanted to go one direction, the HC another and the players not knowing what was going on. His sole job in this CEO role he made for himself was to make sure everyone at every level was on the same page, and he flat out failed. You can blame Gute for the player choices that have gone wrong (and give him credit for the many that have gone right!), but if anyone didn't like anyone else plans or intentions, Murphy's job was to smooth all that out.

i do agree with a lot of this. but i also believe that gute created the communication problems that murphy failed to fix.

It's Murphy's job to know what the GM's intentions are. They didn't talk in the run up to the draft last year about the possibility of drafting a QB high? If they didn't, that's on Murphy for not doing what he set out to do. If they did, that's on Murphy for not foreseeing the potential sh!tstorm with Rodgers and looping him in.

Gute can't and doesn't operate like Ted or Ron Wolf did. He reports to someone who has explicitly said he is involved in football ops. I think the main issue is that Murphy probably didn't consider Aaron Rodgers to be one of the leadership spots that needed to be involved in fixing these broken down channels of communication.

Whoa there, I've heard from Rodgers now, I've heard from the HC, GM, CEO of the Packers. I have several quotes from teammates who dismissed all this even though that appears to be false, I have a TE who bluntly tells me our starting QB was calling plays from the 2014 playbook he didn't know in a game.... it goes on and on.

The speculation/rumor card is no longer something any rational person can use, the fact that some folks want intricate details to complete the pictures doesn't mean you'll ever get one.

There is more than smoke here.

Yeah the Rodgers thing with Tonyan was strange. Even more so how they say Rodgers has a great memory and he just forgets that it's not 5-6 years ago for a play he's calling? Either he's senile or at time's he's mentally checking out and not giving a crap.

Whoa there, I've heard from Rodgers now,

i listened to the entire interview with mayne on youtube this morning. in your opinion, what did rodgers say. i ask because i've seen many people claim that he said many things that never actually came out of his mouth. what i heard was rodgers repeatedly sidestep giving any kind of meaningful response to mayne's questions. i've even seen many people say that because rodgers is such an evil genius you have to read between the lines and give greater consideration to the things that he did not say, which is the very definition of speculation.

but just so you know where i stand, i want you to know that i do agree with you - the situation seems beyond repair, and the packers need to trade rodgers for whatever they can get - which at this point probably isn't much.
