I still am of the belief that retirement is still a viable option for him. I’m probably no more than 60% he walks but would not shock meDon’t get me wrong.
I don’t want the team gutted, AND I don’t want to see him just walk away either.
That’s why I said earlier that HE controls his destiny at this time and, as such, trade compensation for him may not be what some are hoping/expecting.
I said this front office would screw this up.
It's a great point Mark. I will contend that them mortgaging the future, means they will be on the way out, whether it's planned on their part of do to the failure of winning another SB. They don't care about tomorrow because they won't be there to deal with the ramifications. The Board should be pissed.I think some of you are overthinking it. Murphy and Gute want to cement their legacy with another SB win and quite frankly they know that they can't sniff it without AR. ML of course is kind of caught betwixt and between this whole deal... but he knows Rodgers keeps his win total high enough to keep working.
The bottom line here is they are willing to mortgage tomorrow to win today.... that approach hasn't worked in 3 seasons but come hell or high water these dopes want to keep trying.
That's about what it smells like. Good take. One theory out there I’ve heard I the “we want Aaron back” narrative is that the organization is afraid he walks and they get nada in compensation. The organization wants to give the narrative that is still capable of winning, why would you not want to compete to win.
Personally I believe there have been conversations between the organization and Dunn and it’s not positive stuff
Murphy's legacy is on the business side. All the theme park, renovation shit. Gutey's just getting started. I think he's got an overall very positive record as GM.It's a great point Mark. The lack of depth and talent is on Gute. And don't for a second that Murphys footprint is not over this roster and drafts. And Love's issue are not just footwork. This whole thing they did this year with Aaron and acquiring Cobb is a giant 180 for Gute. Matt's system is solid. When we choke like this, it's because the QB gets out of that system. Can it really just come down to sudden doubts about Love? I guess he's still working on footwork, but in essence it's been his first real year.
Lack of depth and talent? What team are you watching? The lack of depth and talent is on Gute. And don't for a second that Murphys footprint is not over this roster and drafts. And Love's issue are not just footwork. It'd not that simple
