Our family black lab had to go on Prozac for separation anxiety when my son (her 'human') left for the Navy.

Now that’s sad.
Separation anxiety in dogs is a real thing.
We have a yellow/copper Lab, and I get “the look” every morning when I leave for work

Yes it is. I didn't realize just how bad they can get depressed. She was a healthy 60 lbs when my son left. She dropped down to near 40. Prozac was too expensive. Lots of walks didn't help. Finally ended up getting a Border Collie puppy and that did the trick. Non stop activity! She put weight back on.

On a lighter note, my parents were able to come off Prozac once I left for the Navy. Imagine that!
