Rodgers Wants Out

i thought that i read this new agreement between rodgers and the packers says that they cannot tag him. of course the agreement has still not be finalized, so that could change.
They deleted the default language from his contract. Rodgers can use retirement as mechanism to block a trade or hamper Packers salary cap as a result. He’s got 100% control of 2022. basically free agency

Let's make sure everyone gets this, Rodgers is on a 1-year play and trade deal, you can dress that up any way you want but at the end of the day, that's what it is. The problem here and Gute said it clearly today is they are in cap hell because of moves this year....other players are leaving with Rodgers. Not one or two but several..

Straight up haven't seen what we are going to see since Mike Sherman maybe even going back to Holmgren's early years.

PS

I get you folks want to "enjoy the year" but those are the facts.
Most of this is contract and roster mismanagement. Jones, King to name a couple. I sometimes wonder if the organization over compensates players because of the perceived notion that they are not "player friendly". In a sense overcompensating for their inability internally, that also includes player evaluation.

not sure what that has to do with the tag, but i was already aware of this because you have posted it more than once.

100% but this goes back to FA 2019 when Gute splurged on the Smith Brothers, Amos, Turner followed by Clark and Bakhtiari. Fans were bleating like sheep for years under TT, we want to go all in! Well, they went all in. The new GM went all in to pop open a window for the star QB (recently, at the time, re-signed to a now infamous contract!) and for his new HC. The window for Rodgers was always three years - 2019, 2020, 2021. Three year shot to get it done. Two years in a row they came up short in the NFCC. Brass wants their last shot here, it's bought and paid for and they're willing to make whatever superficial concessions to Rodgers to get that shot. It may be dumb, may be short-sighted, may make people want to throw produce at them but IMO it's sincere, it's earnest. Thats why I'm not really upset one way or the other. I think they believe in this and are willing to bet the farm and their hides on it. To me, how can you not root for it to work?

Next year there will be a purge - we know Rodgers but one or both Smiths, likely Adams, certainly Cobb, likely Amos, Turner, going to be more youth in the secondary. And worst, they are not going to be able to buy replacements. The fill-ins will themselves that need to be cut a year or two down the road. The beginning of the Love era will be more patchwork than it would have been if they moved Rodgers this year, but again, they believe in taking the shot for the ring this year.

I'll be 100% honest, I don't think pro player personal has been up to par since several key people left. If those people aren't doing their job the rest will crumble. You then have Murphy sticking his nose in things and it compounds the issues.

We were talking about Adams and does team keep him after this year.
