As for Cobb, PFT is reporting that the Pack and Texans are (or were) haggling over portions of Cobb's guaranteed salary. "If Houston pays it, Houston caps it" so that's excellent news although I'm still meh on the whole Cobb thing. Maybe (hopefully) he'll prove me wrong and light it up.

I see it as Rodgers plays this year with everyone knowing he's to be traded at the end of the year (unless they win it all) and then we move on to Love. There will be plenty of suitors in the trade market. I'm quite confident they'll get a LOT.

Here’s the reality. They deleted the default language from his contract. Rodgers can use retirement as mechanism to block a trade or hamper Packers salary cap as a result. He’s got 100% control of 2022

The CBA just is not player friendly when tags are applied. That’s fact.

Still trying to figure out this management team. I've been trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but Murphy kept Ted and MM for a few years too long. I don't want to rehash that but this new power structure was on most of our "watch" lists when they announced the restructuring. I just don't see this playing out very well.

No which is why if you are him all you can do is refuse to sign the tag until the last possible moment which would be right as TC ends. Plus as I mentioned if this team is going to go over a major overhaul really see no point in keeping him anyways at a high contract or a tag.

This did not have to lead to a complete blow up and rebuild. Our Front Office caused this.

I, as often stated, believe Rodgers should have been traded on draft day. And, yes, it would have been difficult but we could have figured a way around the Cap Hit. Other teams do it all the time. I know it would have taken creativity and leaving the Packers' preferred Cap Structure, but they just did that anyway.

Unfortunately, I believe this front office has seriously lost out on football player assets and damaged their ability to keep and acquire football player assets.

I'm not saying I wanted Rodgers to leave or that I'm a fan of Love. But, our front office is going to have a very hard time putting a great team together after this. When if they bit the bullet and traded Rodgers early, they'd be licking their chops at restocking the cupboards.

Isn't Rodgers going to be 39 going on 40 after next season. We are not going to get a haul for him. Compared to what we could have got in football player assets on draft day, we'll get a bag of Fritos and a Hidden Valley packet.

From a Packers view, I believe the front office fubar'd this in ways I can't even describe.

I sure hope I'm wrong
 
End of the day it's all entertainment to me, each season is its own drama. We now know the cast of characters, we begin to see their motivations. I'm actually really excited to see this year play out! Rodgers the Petulant, triumphantly returning. Packers FO, so consumed with the opportunity to win a championship that they undermine their own values of team and organizational building. All flawed characters, each the hero of their own stories. Imagine if they actually make the SB this year?
