Rodgers Wants Out

He's also trying to associate himself with the GB legends. The ones most people associate with when they think of the GB brand. I'm not saying that's right or wrong but the dude knows what he's saying and that wordcraft is important.
I do think he respects history. I’m not sticking up for the guy at all.

He should have been traded on draft night when we could have gotten the 3rd or 9th Pick as a start. We're going to get less in regards to football players who could help us win championships. Victory favors the bold, we were timid.
nailed it. but i'm still saying that we did trade him on draft day - it just hasn't been formalized yet. but yes, we will get less than we could have. if they were bound and determined to move on, they should have made the move before the stafford trade. we simply do not have competent management.

He's pulling at the fanbase heartstrings. Trying to be a historian and protector of the might Packers legacy. He is positioning himself as the last bastion of hope of returning GB to it's glory years. He's calculated in what he says.
He’s a guy who wants out on his own terms. The rest is just window dressing.

well, he will be a first ballot hall of fame inductee. and he earned that while playing qb for the packers. he should be associated with the packers legends.

This organization, probably even today thinks they can “fix” this issue and make it go away. The same way they thought sending a locker to Favre would make things all better.

As to trade the only move is 6/1. If you trade him prior it’s bad business. The economics just don’t work. Don’t

The economics don't work much better after 6/1. Everyone knew that his 2018 contract made him unmoveable before 2022, and the impact of covid with the reduced cap made it not just bad business but suicide. They can't move him in current form. It's why I still think by hook or by crook, however Rodgers is ultimately willing to accept his 2021 jollies (more money, public flogging of the org, or both), he will play out the year with them.

It’s a softer hit 6/1. And while economics are still not ideal the distraction is worse if he stays. The risk far outweighs the rewards waiting till next year.

Yeah and he wants to make it look like he's the victim and the Packers are the bad guy when he leaves.
And that perception will last until the next news cycle hits. No matter what he would have said people would have taken sides just like the Favre debacle

At this point Gute should let other teams and Rodgers know he's taking phone calls. They are willing to work with Rodgers were he would like to go but still will take best offer that comes in if comp is not close to equal to were he wants to end up.
I believe those conversations have already begun.

The organization needs to come for realization that if it’s not going to work cut bait. Let Dunn and Rodgers work out a trade and then evaluate it on its merits. For years we have bitched about the organization holding on to its own too long. While this is a bit different the dynamic is the same. You screwed up the Favre thing now you want to repeat history.
