Post Game Thread: Oakland beats GB

Both QBs sucked. Murphy should get cut before he kills someone. Our defense looked good. Jackson's pick 6 coming back was a travesty. Sitting the whole first string offense in the 3rd preseason game really puts a lot of pressure on your 2nd string to show something, and it did not show much. Hopefully there is some way to get a serviceable backup RT, because there is no reason to keep Murphy on the roster if he can't even block the Raiders backups.

Our return team is actual trash, and I don't want Alexander anywhere near returning punts. Trevor Davis made the team tonight. JK Scott was also trash. There was something about how Zook was trying to speed up his punt timing, and if that is the case then someone needs to get Zook the hell away from Scott.

There is none. Rest of the league has a similar issue. RB/OT should have been addressed in the draft rather than a plethora of WR.

That’s right Mark.
You and I both had RB’s on our predraft wish list.
4th/5th rounds would have landed a decent prospect in a deep RB draft class.

Edit: Too bad our one drafted OL ended up a no-show for TC.

How do you figure Scott was trash? All his punts were 46 yards or more and close to 5 second hang time. He had 1 punt that was 36 yards, I believe. I hardly call that sucking.

If you drafted one of our RB and one of the OT I had then we are in a completely different place this morning.

His hang time is way down from early in camp. Ron Zook is a complete trash coach...always has been. He'll screw this up, just watch.

True, what he did at Illinois and Florida is a perfect example of how not to coach. I think Scott is overrated though.

Murphy moves like his feet are in thick mud.

Tackle depth is non-existent and Bulaga's body is held together by fishing line. My biggest roster concern is depth at interior O-Line right now.

Well, I'm sure the coaches will get something out of that game from the all-22 film, but I didn't come up with much.

- The young WR group is still a muddy mess. Moore finally had a bit of a break-out game though he didn't make any particularly tough catches. To his credit he caught what was available. MVS didn't do much. ESB did nothing. ESB might have some real upside and there is some opinion that he's most consistent, but he does absolutely nothing to stand out to me. For me it's a toss-up between them unless you find a way to keep all 3. They're late round rookies so not a surprise that there hasn't been a clear-cut winner/loser in that group.

- Hundley or Kizer - flip a coin. To me they are both bad and won't win you games in the regular season.

- Back-up OL are just bodies. There is nothing to distinguish between the drafted guys like Spriggs and Murphy and the others like Pankey and Patrick. Keep the 5 starters, Bell, Spriggs and Murphy and cut all the rest. They'll all clear waivers and you can add one or two to the PS as the 9th/10th OL. Keeping only 8 will allow you to keep 3xQB and 7xWR and maybe even 4xTE if you decide to only go with 2 running backs for the first 2 games.

- I thought that both of the rookie CBs continued to play well. Gute seems to have a better eye for this than TT, because Alexander and Jackson seem to be clear upgrades over Randall and Rollins. Along with King, Williams and House I think the CB spot is in good hands right now.

- I thought that Gilbert continued to look like a viable rotation guy at OLB. Fackrell and Biegel are just guys though Biegel at least did a little more than usual. They are "OK" guys to keep and can maybe be competent but they just will never be playmakers. ILB is a mess if Burks is injured and can't go week one. Gute needs to work the waiver wire next weekend.

- DL will be OK though they are still giving up some longer runs. Did do a little more to collapse the pocket this week.

Overall there wasn't much to see in this snoozefest. Agree with above that Gilbert and Moore helped themselves and the two rookie CBs were solid. Otherwise it was just "move along, nothing to see here".
