Post Game Thread : Green Bay Shuts Out Buffalo 22-0

That's what I'm saying Mark. They're pissing money away turning the receiving corp upside down and doing nothing to improve our line play. The numbers reflect that, but nobody is reading them. They blame it on Nelson being old and slow, and Cook not being as good as he used to be.

Imagine what they could have done with up to $25 mill to spend on improvements on the offensive line. Yet, they don't, because; "Rodgers will save the day."

No talent is the fault of the people on the sideline and upstairs. It's an endless line of guys being dumped and offered up like sacrificial lambs for the stupidity of the brain trust.

Stats prove it.

Thats not what happened with Cook. They offered him and could not agree on terms and GB went after Bennett, basically it was 1st to take the deal. For the most part Thompson avoided free agency and thats a totally different discussion. And as to the draft Madison as we are aware is a no show, 2017 no OL picked, 2016 Spriggs is a real question mark 2015 no picks....see the trend. so yes they did not address in draft and aversion to free agency but who was out there? sure Norwell but he got $30M guaranteed (5ys $66M) and this is before we knew how much 12 would get on his extension

Let's be honest. The line issues are TTs fault. Period. No FA, bad drafts, and ignoring line draft picks at times. I think we address o-line next year in draft and maybe FA. It is what it is this year.

Jared Cook received no offer. Read the previous link. They'd decided Bennett was "their guy," and that's how it played out. As for Jordy Nelson's offer, it was Veterans minimum, at $1.1 mill. He even considered taking it. Obviously he wanted to stay a Packer. But, the geniuses in GB decided they wanted to spend the money on screwing the team up more.

Between these two "decisions," and obviously woefully horrible decisions on making corner backs the priority every year for all our higher picks because they failed to identify the good ones, it's hard to sit here and pretend that it was Nelson and/or Cook, who was the problem.

When this season ends, and the Packers have a dreadful season because of the lack of talent out there, which players will they choose to be the scapegoats for their failure? Every year they find a couple of guys and act like their "production" was so pivotal in causing them to fail.

Spot on. The drafts have been poor and we all know the issues with FA. This is not a "one draft" fix

Nope. It's going to take a new generation of players to make it all well.

The brain-trust believes they can work magic with a guy or two, because they have Rodgers. It's not going to happen. The weaknesses on both side of the ball are too big to fix with a few picks, half of which will never actually impact how the team does for an entire year.

There's no doubt that TT is a large part of the problem where the o-line is concerned. He just never really seemed to respect the position group. They represent one-fifth of your "starters" and as a result you should be using 20% of your draft picks on o-line help. TT drafted linemen, but not enough IMO and certainly not enough quality guys. He then tried to patch things up with UDFAs.

Then, when it's clear we have a problem at both RT and RG, Gute doesn't really address it much either. We needed an OT in the last draft.

Then there are the things you can't control. Drafting Madison was decent move for some OG depth and you can't blame Gute for that back-firing the way it did. Almost everyone was happy with the Spriggs selection, but that hasn't panned out and looks like another failed draft pick. Then there's the Bulaga injury situation.

They need to add some guys next off-season. It'd be nice to see a solid FA addition who could start at RG next year and hopefully a couple of draft picks that can play OT, because it's very possible that Bulaga is not back in 2019 and Spriggs, to date, is not the answer.

And whats happening in GB is really a microcosm of the NFL. If you have to pay 2-3 guys franchise money especially at key positions you need to hit on picks. You basically have a choice. Look at LA. paid for defense and extend Gurley with Goff on a cheap deal. It’s not a fix on both sides of the ball. The fact that GB maintained this success for an extended period is really remarkable

Boys, I don't give a rats ass which one you kept your all missing the bigger picture.
Cobb and Nelson can't play OL which has already given up a bunch of sacks and pressure. Cobb and Nelson don't coach the Green bay Packers(BIG BIG PROBLEM).
Cobb and Nelson don't play for the 23rd rated defense which outside of a rookie qb has looked average. Cobb and Nelson can't coach special teams or aquire talent.

Bottom line if ya'll want to run around and chaise your tail like a coon dog with fleas that's great and dandy but your not really touching on a whole lot of other issues here. tc(br)
Boy you got that right. How many def players GB gave up on have moved on to play well? That's on the front office. Piss poor talent eval has destroyed the roster .

And like TW said everyone thought it was fine cause Arod will save them. Well no. He won't.

Green Bay DID offer Cook a contract. His agent turned it down and they ended up signing for less in Oakland.

Technically HE didn't turn it down, but his agent did!
