Post Game: Packers Defeat Bears 20-19

I looked back at some of the game and this is what I saw:

Hafley blitzed fairly often. The Bears were just ready for it. Of course the Packers d-lineman and LB's did not win their one on ones against one of the worst o-lines in the league. This was not on Hafley, IMO. A lot of this was on the players. We have major problems up front. Clark has lost a step big time, Wyatt is meh, Slaton is meh, Brooks is ok, Van Ess is meh, Gary has regressed, and then we have three UDFA's. Not good.

McKinney had his worst day as a Packer yesterday

CB's are very average and no depth but without a pass rush it is difficult for any defensive backfield

Jacobs was a stud again yesterday

Watson stepped up big time and was the reason we won this game

Love played pretty well except that INT was huge. He did miss some open guys. Kraft was open for big gains a few times and he just missed seeing him

I don't love how these WR's disappear for big lengths of time. I still think we need another dynamic WR next to Reed.

ML's play calling was very average this game; especially, in the Red Zone. Not taking the FG again almost cost us. He just doesn't seem to learn that you always take the points on the road.

The positive was we cut way down on our penalties and we only had 1 TO. At least we played more mistake free football.

The way the Packers are playing right now, I am not optimistic they win more than 3 games the rest of the way. 49ers, Dolphins, Lions, Seahawks, Saints, Vikings, Bears.

Buckle up....it's going to be bumpy.
Yep it's going to be a 3-4 or 4-3 finish in last 7 games.

The offense was productive but it felt disjointed. They had the run game going but it felt like they were never able to consistently get pass concepts built off of it. Maybe that a credit to how the Bears pass D was playing? Not sure.

Honestly, I agree with that RP.

We moved the football, we just couldn't get TD's or points. Two times in the red zone and no points. This has been a big problem all year. ML needs to figure this out.

Also I do not think we ran many plays compared to usual. The Bears held the ball for like 36 minutes.

What a weird game with a surprising finish. No apology needed, just take the win and move on.

Kicking game - was fine in this game.

Run defense - not good. Gave up over 5 yds per carry and were unprepared or simply unable to deal with Caleb Williams running with the ball.

Inexperience at QB - not really a factor. Love had a solid day. One bad throw bit him in the butt - good decision, bad throw. Maybe his inexperience showed in his attempt to run on 4th and goal. It just didn't look like he had a chance as soon as he took off. Unfortunately those 2 things cost them points in a tight game. Certainly, going for it on 4th and goal is up for debate. There is a valid argument that they should heve just taken the 3 points and that's not on Love.

Was a little disappointed in the defense. Not much pressure for most of the game and they seemed to not be preparded for Caleb Williams running. Was yelling at the TV when they gave uo so much cushion on the 3rd and 19 play on the Bears last drive. Kinda Joe Barry(ish) - ugh.

They had 7 possessions, and one was a kneel down at the end of the half. usually they have 3-4 more at least. The defenses issues getting off the field really did hurt them.

Some of the red zone issues all year I think have been a product of Love’s injury, which includes game 1 when both calves were cramping up on him. He had a lot of second reaction plays last year, and I don’t just mean scramble drill stuff, I mean moving and re-setting in the pocket so guys could get open on second moves. With the bum knee and then the groin injury, that goes out the window. With Love returning to health I think the productivity will tick up again.

Rewatched the game. One thing I noticed that didn't quite stand out as much watching the game live - the INT was a colossal, colossal swing in the game. It was 7-3, GB was about to go up 14-3 and send the Bears reeling. Instead they get all that momentum and double up before and after the half. By the time the GB O got the ball back they were behind the scoreboard and were chasing the rest of the game. They did a nice job answering and executing in the 2nd half but they really could've buried the Bears right then and there. Might not have been Love's worst INT but may well have been the most game altering yet this year.

Was also apparent on re-watch that the DL were all chasing sacks and pressures instead of playing sound. No lane integrity, no discipline. Kept running themselves out of plays and couldn't tackle worth crap. This could be a positional coaching issue.

Finally, Walker was as bad as everyone says he was. I don't want to hear about what the depth is behind him, what he should be doing, I don't want to hear blame. I don't need to read an autopsy, I just know the body is dead. They have to sit him. Play Wilson, activate Hopper. Whatever happens, happens. They finally benched Stokes in favor of Valentine, and while Valentine isn't great either, he was MUCH better than Stokes this past game. Quay has to be next. It's over.

Yup, Quay just isn't getting it done. Now it's year one in a new system, but he was never very good in the previous system. Maybe there is still a role for him, but he can't be getting the number of snaps he's been getting. He's just not getting enough results to warrent them.
