Post Game Lions Defeat GB 34-31

Holy Cow, they beat us. Their 2d and 3d ran over our offensive line all night. In rugby parlance, they're at the bar being social and smiling, but wondering why Packers even get to wear football jerseys

There's 2 things I hate to admit and it pains me to say them both.

1.) The Lions are a Super Bowl contender folks. They just are. They are built soundly, play aggressive and attack and have playmakers at their skill positions.

2.) Mark said this many years ago when Campbell was hired, that we as Packers fans, and the NFC North, better beware because Campbell and Co. were building a heckuva team. They've succeeded and Mark was finally correct with one of his plethora of predictions. A blind squirrell type of analogy is not necessary but you get my point.

As I've said, I hate admitting to either but the Prick-O-Meter, said it was time to admit it...so I did. On to the next game and hopefully will still make the playoffs.

This was a good barometer game. This is a very good regular season football team. But it still lacks some key ingredients for a deep playoff run.

The DL and OL are just not good enough. They lack leadership and key dominant players. They’re inconsistent and when a really good team shows up. Considering how much draft and $$ is tied up in that DL there is no reason they shouldn’t be dominating other teams. We are also seeing cracks in the secondary.

LB need work. And the WR group while nice touchy feely feel good stories just are not good enough either.

Don’t get me wrong this is a solid team. But when you’re looking at a deep playoff run the pieces aren’t there yet. But someone needs to hold Gutey and the scouting dept accountable for such an expensive def that doesn’t dominate consistently.

They hung with a 12-1 team and only lost by three. Thats a good effort. Things still look bright for the future but Gutey has to be more than a good Gm he has to be a great one to build a better roster.

While the refs let a ton go in the game vs the Lions it's still GB's job to make plays. Only one time on 4th down did the defense stop the Lions. There is no excuse to allow the Lions to convert so much on 4th down. Stokes is garbage has been for a long time now. There is no excuse Gute did not make a trade at the deadline or at least go sign a vet off the street. Anyone would have been better then playing Stokes out there. Also losing Williams and Bullard resulting in Anderson being out there really hurt this team also. Unless something changes in the next month this team will not make it out of the wild card round as all playoff teams will do what the Lions did and just attack this defense knowing that they can't stop anyone when it matters.

If you’re a good team then at a certain point you have to beat a good team. 0-3 in the division. In some ways there has been a lot of improvement with this team but in others it’s been a step back. They’re falling behind.

Depth...they have none, said it in July still an issue. Need another draft/FA cycle and hopefully we are set
