Post Game Lions Defeat GB 34-31

With all due respect thats a TE..... you're not wrong but we are talking strictly WR here. Tucker was needed as a wham blocker last night and took out some of his pass-catching opportunities.
with all due respect i know the difference between a wr and a te. i was only referring to his ability to catch virtually everything thrown his way. if he is the only receiver we have that can do that, we should find a way to use him more often. maybe we have one of our other tes do some of the dirty work and line up kraft as a slot receiver. just throwing ideas out there. i'm sick of all the drops too.

I think issue with Kraft is that our OL is so poor that Kraft has to stay in and block more then ML would like him too.
i think we saw some of that on the one possession where the packers had a long sustained rive and love threw only two passes in the entire drive vs. 11 running plays. maybe that was a test of concept on how we might be able to beat them in the playoffs?

The thing is Kraft as a TE doesn't have the top of route skills that WR do. He has very good hands, he does a lot of damage after the catch and making the most of opportunities off of schemed up stuff. I think his "bucket getter" status depends on how teams play GB. He can find soft spots in zone but what happens when he gets manned up on 3rd and 6th? Obviously he won big time on the TD but that was a very close play and it took a perfect throw because coverage was actually pretty tight. I don't see the consistent route skills of a guy like Kittle, at least not yet. Doubs or Wicks could have a nice niche doing this sort of thing because they both have the route skills to win consistently but they just drop to many easy passes. Personally I think this is the argument for trading for or signing a veteran, because it just takes experience and savvy and yes, good hands. I wouldn't want to entrust this to yet another 4th round developmental WR next year.

That is the one I didn't understand. The run game has been doing so well up to this point. I did not understand why ML didn't run the ball more.

We ran the ball 24 times and passed 20 times. When you only have 44 plays and have multiple 3 and outs and a fumble it is tough. That is pretty balanced offense. The offense wasn't even on the field that much.

I read that the Lions ran 20 third- and fourth-down plays to the Packers' five.

It's pretty surprising the Pack made it as competitive as it was at the end (imo).
