Post Game: Green Bay Over Detroit 31-24

Pack is what it is... They aren't a powerhouse this year. Good thing the rest of the league sucks too.

The good thing is that no matter what clinching the division gives GB some flexibility and breathing room to rest some guys and look forward. Playoffs will be tough, especially with this defense and ST playing so bad. But they're in....

This really should be a copy and paste from week to week since it repeats itself

The Good
  • Rodgers just makes plays and makes it look easy with a very pedestrian WR group sans Adams
  • MVS made a play or 2 tip the hat
  • Tonyan was solid but not spectacular which is fine
  • Crosby clutch
The Bad
  • Running game is just not as consistent as I would like it and in January you need it
  • King is just a guy at CB
  • The Smiths have to play better. The band with Morrissey is fantastic but these guys need to bring it each week also
  • Special teams are not special
The Rest
  • We are NFC North Champs so now buy those division champ t-shirts and hats and make the Bank of Murphy rich
  • We are 10-3

I like the good. But also think the whole defense should be listed under bad. Seems every week we are needing to push that 30-40 point range because our defense is always giving up that high 20s to low 30s points given up.

Props to Mason Crosby seems he is having a great year though unless he attempts another 5 FG this will be the fewest FG attempts he has had in his career as he has only tried 15 FG this year.

Special Teams seems to have regressed. I think the Packers paid for this by trying to be cheap with their hire of the Miami ST coach he passed when the Packers low balled him on the job and were left holding the bag hiring whomever they could get. I wont be shocked if they hire a new ST coach again.

Pettine seems like a guy just going thru the motions. He seems like MM relying on his same old garbage everyone in the league has figured out and knows how to game plan against. I hope ML will replace him.

Rodgers is playing his best at 37-38 years old. Seems the Jordan Love pick put a large chip on his shoulder to prove the Packers wrong. I am glad he is doing this and make you wonder if Rodgers keeps this going into next year what is Love's future in GB.

Right now GB holds the cards to get a 1st round bye. This is something that is needed after having the very early bye week. Also I rather have to have the Saints in GB then having to travel to NOLA. If by some chance GB would win the SB and Rodgers wins MVP also I would question would Rodgers say you know what screw it and retire on top.

The ghost of Buddy Ryan could not fix this defense. Beyond Alexander there is not one guy who plays week in and week out, maybe Clark but that it. Preston Smith is so pedestrian at times it’s actually comical and Z Smith while our best pass rusher is not a dominant player. Sure scheme is poor, in get that but this group is just not talented

The running game, as Pack mentioned, has to get cranked up. I trust ML. I know it'll feel a bit of conspiracy theory but I'm banking on ML holding some stuff back for the playoff run. Again, I know that's contrary to most coaching philosophy but I just have a feeling

Going to play devils advocate here. Jones only had 5 100 yard + games last year and only 2 this year. When you peel back the number 9 were less than 50 per game last year. My point is it’s not a dominant run game, more balanced to set up play action and the pass. Sure he can break one or 2 with the zone scheme but he’s not Delvin Cook. Also reinforces my thought that you cannot pay the man big $$$. He’s not a bell cow back or one who can get multiple touches of say 25-30 per game. I digress but while I would love to see a more dominant run game, the chuck plays kind of overlook the bigger picture

my thinking also. even when you include his pass receptions, the most he has touched the ball in a game this season is 20. i love the guy, but i just don't think we can afford to pay him what he thinks he should be paid. i really hope that aj dillon turns out to be an adequate replacement.FCC(

I agree to a certain extent; however, I think this O is in for a rude awakening next year if Jones is gone. As great as AR is Jones makes this O different IMHO.

i think a big part of the running game is the scheme. our ol does a good job of opening up holes. hopefully dillon will be able to see them and get through them with the same speed.
