Post game: GB Defeats Indy 23- 19

We see the same things every year. Every year we get told it will come around. Every year they beat up on the weak teams but when it comes time to square up in the playoffs they usually get beat.

This has been across multiple coaching groups and countless rosters.

Screw the keep it in house and promote from within the FO. It’s holding GB back. They need new blood and new vision in the FO. The current regime and “family” in the front office can’t get it done.

I assume at this point they want to keep the guy but that's a UDFA rookie playing NT and squaring up a starting NFL guard with one arm. Pretty impressive stuff.

You have to keep Stackhouse no way IMO he is not clearing waivers. I am willing to trade or cut Wooden the guy has not done anything in 2 years after being taken in the 4th round.

Ed Policy was an in house promotion, what makes you think he won’t turnaround and do the same thing? He’s also been entirely corporate his whole career, you’re as likely as not to get a GM chosen by a private equity group. Careful what you wish for!

I have not been able to watch any pre-season games.

All of my opinions are based on reading here and other places.

I believe that training camp is devoted to learning the offenses and defenses that will be played during the regular season. And, I understand that those offenses and defenses are not what is being played in pre-season. So, to some degree, I expect missed assignments.

However, what concerns me, is reading about Packers:
  • losing their one on one battles - especially on the offensive line. [I know, Keg Man, you're always bitching about the offensive line. But, I'm old and believe that a good offensive line will create the platform for the offense to dominate which will keep opponents off the field. So,, in the words of Lombardi, the best defense is a good offense. And, I will keep bitching about the offensive line until they at least show a backbone.] I know the other guys play too, but at some time, we must win the one on one battles. Maybe, when the one on ones are being fought in the scheme they're learning they'll be better; however, I'm not buying that until I see it.
  • Less hustle, desire, and effort than our opponents.
They better be sharp as hell on opening day. But, I'll believe that when I see that too. Because I anticipate rustiness and still learning the game plans to be an excuse.

Maybe I've just been beaten down into Packers depression expecting a failure.

I sure as hell hope they prove me wrong.

Oh well. Go Pack!

i understand all the "sky is falling" posts, i really do. part of me feels the same way. but i think we really have to keep this in mind:

that's quite a few players who are expected to make big contributions to this season. yes, some of those are classified as injuries, but a lot of those are healthy scratches. i think they might have made a difference in how the first half played out.

Keg, all I can say is that this franchise has had the same issues going back decades at this point. The only two seasons I can think of where they came out of the gate red hot were 2011 and 2020, and in both cases there was limited or no offseason around the league due to the lockout and pandemic, respectively. I don’t know why it happens, I wish it wasn’t so, especially with a really competitive division and I am very jealous of seeing other teams look fired up and prepared while GB sleep walks through this time of year. People can blame the coaches, the GM, the talent, a certain QB who is no longer here. Doesn’t matter. Something in the air, the soil. You expect it at this point, but the hope is always there that they come on as the season progresses, which they’ve also done throughout the years.
