At WR it’s less about drafting guys high and more about drafting guys who can catch the damn ball. Also need more solid route runners. You don’t need a first rounder to find guys like that. But you do need your scouting dept to be competent.
Cheese, that's where we disagree. There are not many WR's that become a consistent solid WR who are picked in the 3rd round or later. (Driver is a huge exception) High drafted WR's usually have the combination of speed, size, hands, and route running ability. I understand you can still miss in higher rounds but the chances are way higher you will get a game changer or consistent guy.
I am trying to think of a Packer WR besides Driver that was picked in the 3rd or later that has really been a good WR.
