Packers 2024-25 Season Thread

Does Love toss up floaters way down dere towards nobody in particular?

Yes, he does. He usually does it under pressure - and the Packers better fix that. This is only his second season. He's talked about like he's a lock to the Hall of Fame and in Favre - Rodgers class. He received a $250M'ish contract.

I think some of it is a little invincible feeling. I think a ton more of it is that he's trying to show he's as valuable as the contract he just received. Rather than pulling it down and playing it safe, he's trying to do the spectacular to show he's worth the spectacular contract.

I think he'll learn.

My biggest concern is when he's not really under pressure and he doesn't step into his throws. it's not always, but it happens. When he steps into his throws, I'll accept the growing pains interceptions.

It's the other ones - when he doesn't step into it or makes very questionable throws, or just heaves it. I think he'll grow out of those issues - or at least the frequency that we see them now.

I see a ton more good than bad.

Fans already saying ML keeping Saleh around so if Hafley gets a HC job after the season he would just hire Saleh as his DC.

Now reports the Packers in addition to paying for all work done on Lambeau over the next couple decades would also be willing to pay a 2.75% annual increase in rent backing off from the flat rent they had been asking for. It sure seems the Packers are willing to compromise here. If this is still not good enough for the city perhaps they need to get rid of the commies that are running that city.

Commies? I immediately threw anything you said out as pure drivel. If you can't refer to people legitimately, it's obvious you can't discuss an issue openly. The issues surrounding the Packers and the stadium have nothing to do with politics directly, except in how the city itself would benefit from the team being there. Not all the monies coming in from their presence should go to the organization, for obvious reasons.

For openers, it wasn't the organization that supported itself for decades, it was the people of Green Bay, and Brown County, who ponied up the bucks it took to keep the team there, and having a place to play. They recognized the significance of having an NFL team, and while cities and areas with much larger populations were folding, the area supported a team through thick and thin. Even the stock sales is an obvious way that the community has supported that team.

Let's talk about this like what it is. It's a question of what the people of Green Bay and the County, think is fair, and that negotiation is between the officials and the Packers. Kissing the asses of the Packer front office because you "think" they're offer is fair is pure bull! It's a two-sided coin.

Sorry the GB city council and the mayor want not the people. So what if I call them commies big deal. They elected officials are wanting it there way or no way. The Packers have been more then fair but the mayor and the city council have not they want to be greedy and think they can hold the team over a barrel. The team makes the city million every year. The team never had a problem with the city until the current mayor took over. He's been bad for the city of GB overall and now it's been spilling onto the team. Sorry TW love talking with you but I will 100% be behind the team on this and screw the mayor and the city council.

Reading a list of an article of 5 players/coaches who could be shown the door after the season.

1. Van Ness (While he has not made a jump we all like to see GB won't move on from him not only after two years. If GB moves on from a DE/Edge after the season it will be high priced Preston Smith who is showing his age.)

2. Josh Myers (Did not know he's ranked by PFF 37th out of 38 centers. But this was a miss by Gute. He could have drafted the center KC took one pick later but Gute like Ted only drafts OL who can play more then one spot. Myers is a FA after the season and can't see GB wanting him back.)

3. Eric Stokes (He flashed his rookie year but since then he's been injury prone & when he has been on the field he's been a liability. He also is a FA after the season and also can't see GB wanting him back.)

4. Quay Walker (He is so frustrating to watch. You can tell he has the talent to be a very good player. But he lacks the brains to use those talents. He's often out of position and other teams will attack him because he is not a good coverage LB. While I doubt GB moves on from him after the season I can't see them picking up his 5th year making 2025 a prove it year for him heading into his contract year.)

5. Rich Bisaccia (The highest paid Special Teams coach in the NFL. When he came to GB I think everyone was thinking we finally have a coach that is going to fix our Special Teams issues. But 3 years later the Special Teams are no better then when he first came to GB. GB is not getting what they paid for & unless things change in the 2nd half of the season I think both sides will decide it's best to move on.)

If the people of GB and Brown county aren't happy with their elected officials, they can recall them, or offer candidates that are better in an election. But, regardless of whatever any of us have as an opinion, the people who are making the decisions at a city level in Green Bay are not playing a political game, and it's not a commie conspiracy.

Always remember that Bob Harlan, a great leader, was barely able to get enough backing in the city and county to support a .5% sales tax increase 20 years ago, for stadium renovations. It tells me that the idea that the "people" are fully supportive of the Packers demands is pure hogwash. If lucky, somewhere close to 50% might be, but I'd be willing to bet that they don't have a 50%+ margin on this issue. Mark Murphy does not have the community support that Harlan did. Remember, Harlan rescued the Packers from decades of being an NFL doormat, and he was considered the man that was behind the rebirth of the Packers.

It's a mistake by the Packers to believe this will play out well for them in the court of public opinion. Murphy, as I said, is not Harlan, and he is not the man who saved the team. Even then, the guy that saved the team, barely got support from community.

In GB WI? I know you haven't been there in years but the Packers are an economic force in that area, the last dumb@## mayor who tried it got tossed out of their on his butt with most of his clown council. So I am sorry, the Packers have huge leverage there.

Seems like reading articles that the 49ers fans are shocked that Saleh took a job so soon and that job would not be with them. Not sure why they would be shocked. I am guessing that ML is letting Saleh to work when he wants to and that a lot of it could be virtual were he works from home.
