Packers 2022 Thread

They have an offense predicated on Matt's offense and have sold out to a QB who refuses to line up under center or run play action to get mediocre WRs open.

Maybe Aaron's 50% of the playbook has some spread concepts for Amari.
Amari Rodgers is not the answer let’s get that out of the way. Second I don’t care if it’s under center or not. Fine to run play action but your OL and RB need to become a factor. Last 2 weeks they dared GB to throw because not one WR on this roster scares anyone.

Run the offense thru #33

Who are we going to trade for to right this ship.

Our Trenches are getting blown away. We got pushed around by everybody except maybe the Bears. We're not getting new offensive and defensive lineman who will turn this around.

We've got a QB who avoids throwing to rookies because they don't have the intricacies of the offense down. How are we going to trade for anybody that knows our offense?

I think the price of anybody who possibly could have value will be too steep.

Our Front Office has screwed this up by not having clear direction.

They want a running team and draft guys that couldn't block their way out of a wet paper bag. Those non-road graders can't pass block. Yes, there were injuries. But, what the hell?

They have Aaron Rodgers and can't draft or coach up receivers.

They draft guys on defense for 1 scheme and pick a defensive coordinator who runs something different. Even worse, they don't seem to know how to or want tackle - defense guys, go figure.

I don't think we should spend any draft capital or money at the trade deadline. It will only be wasted because whoever we get won't get coached up in time to be of any value this year.

So a lot of this rant is on our coaching staff. Other teams seem to coach up guys far better. We have some high draft picks that don't even contribute

Rookies are not getting open. Sorry if that harsh but the only concepts that #9 “ran” were jet sweep action. The only other rookie is 87.

Watch the All-22, 87 is open more than you think. Not Adams but he’s really not bad.

I did not anticipate the middle of the OL being this bad, and until they sort it out I don’t think you can even judge the WR completely. The positive is that they have other players and combos they can try on the OL. With WR they have what they have - Lazard, Doubs and that’s it. Definitely need to make a move there.

I completely understand your position.

Who is available? No studs are available. In 4 weeks when they get in and learn our offense, we'll be 3-7 and the season will probably unsalvage.

Therefore, why?

Coaches get off your ass, get creative, and scheme a way for receivers to get open - And, quickly because the ball must come out in milliseconds with our line

Dan Orlovsky did a segment on this, they are actually scheming guys open but they can’t defy the laws of time and space and get to their spots immediately, and the interior OL is just losing too fast in 1 on 1s. There are obvious weak links that can be replaced right now (cough Newman cough), maybe it makes a difference and maybe it doesn’t but the team has options there, and the only thing preventing those moves at the moment is coaches pride.

This team seems to have too many issues to overcome to make a deep playoff run, IMO. There are some fans comparing it to 2010 when the Packers got off to a 3-3 start and eventually won the Super Bowl.

The difference to me is that the 2010 team beat a quality Eagles team early and their losses were a close game to a very good Bears team along with a couple of overtime losses to The Redskins and Dolphins, a couple of "meh" teams. Those overtime losses weren't good, but were at least close games that could have been won. The three losses this season have been dominated by the opponent in 2 of the 3 losses.

What does this year's team do that it can point to as something to hang their hats on. They don't have a good passing game right now and that's on the WR's, OL and QB all playing sub-par. The running game is OK but the OL holds them back. Plus the coaches and AR simply can't commit to the run. Against the Jets they were in shotgun 59 times. How does that allow you to run the ball and also use play-action the way it's intended?

On defense, they have been mediocre against the run. They have OK numbers on pass defense, BUT they have only played one team that had a really high level QB and WRs and the Vikings shredded them. Brady had no receivers when they played the Packers, and the other games were all against teams with crappy QBs or back-up QBs in the game.

Until I see the o-line play competent football, this team is going nowhere. They have a lot of bodies on o-line but no real depth. If they had quality NFL-capable depth, Royce Newman would not be starting. Sure, eventually, maybe Newman, Tom and Rhyan become quality NFL players in the mold of a Lucas Patrick who eventually developed into a decent NFL lineman. The problem seems to be that they're not there yet. Not sure if Jenkins is just rusty or if he just can't play on the right side. Mike Wahle on his podcasts is fond of saying it's not just a given that a guy who's good on one side can seamlessly transition to the other. This might also apply to Nijman. IMO, Gute missed the boat by not adding a veteran RT in the off-season given the uncertainty with BakhT and Jenkins.

Am I completely writing off the season, no way. I'll keep watching and hoping they can turn it around. I'm just saying that at this point, there is nothing positive to point to as the base to build from to be a real contender.
Also in 2010 this team was a veteran team with leaders like Driver and Woodson.

I have seen no one on this team who is willing to step up and lead this team. The guy who should is to busy doing mushrooms and going at Pat McAfee show.

Well said!

At this point, there are no gimmes on this schedule and until something changes, these games are gonna be a toss up. This team has a very discombobulated feel about it. Still 1 games left to play, so a lot can change. We'll keep watching and hoping to see this team come together and compete for the division and the playoffs.

Why? Because there are / were upgrade options

12 has never been that guy even when this team is 13-3. Let’s stop blaming 12 for all of this teams ills.

Sorry I expect a veteran QB to step up and be a team leader not a guy who's only in it for himself.
