You can only kick it so far until the dead money makes it unworkable. It’s also roster managementI still rather kick the can down the road then let perhaps your best player on D walk.

Until the void years contracts are gone, it’s almost untenableI agree somewhat guys that are older should not get 3rd contracts but young players like Alexander should get 2nd contracts even if at top end of market money
Though it seems with new TV deal more teams are willing to kick can down the road as we will see bigger increases in cap in next few years. You can only kick it so far until the dead money makes it unworkable. It’s also roster management
And players (see Howard) are asking for ridiculous % of guaranteed money (and getting it).Though it seems with new TV deal more teams are willing to kick can down the road as we will see bigger increases in cap in next few years.
No they are kicking it down the road to save their cap now and worry later. The teams know how much is projected in the next 2-5 years. It’s going up but not some 30% jumpThough it seems with new TV deal more teams are willing to kick can down the road as we will see bigger increases in cap in next few years.
And it’s a cash flow issue too. You can only pay out so much upfront before with all of the guaranteed money tossed aroundThough it seems with new TV deal more teams are willing to kick can down the road as we will see bigger increases in cap in next few years.
This is new NFL top players are going to get paid no matter what and it's likely going to be all guaranteed deals. And players (see Howard) are asking for ridiculous % of guaranteed money (and getting it).
Doesn’t matter how much the cap goes up if you have 30-40-50 million tied up in guaranteed money for players aren’t even on your team anymore
Take out 2nd mortage on Lambeau Field LOLAnd it’s a cash flow issue too. You can only pay out so much upfront before with all of the guaranteed money tossed around
And teams can still choose to not make a player the top paid at their position. This is new NFL top players are going to get paid no matter what and it's likely going to be all guaranteed deals.
But do you become a farm system then for other teams letting them walk when they become good and refuse to payAnd teams can still choose to not make a player the top paid at their position.
