Packers 2022 Draft Thread

Very much so. Spot on and I was more referring to his MO being that of us fans thinking one thing and he goes a different direction. As GBP4 was asking if he gets blasted for not drafting a WR or OL in Rd. 1, he pretty much is echoing all I'm hearing from talking heads and such. The honest truth, as you and others have said, this FO already has these guys ranked and they know which direction they will be going. It makes all this that much more fun to watch unfold on draft day!
I think it points to WR early, day 1 and / or day 2 is more question. Based on roster it’s a clear need and if you believe Aiyuk was the target a couple of years ago ( I do ) it’s been on the radar for awhile. He went after OBJ last year and clearly kicked the tires on other options. The question to me is more how he’s evaluating the position and if his target / targets are gone he very well could pivot. Personally past Wilson and London there is no clear obvious #3. 3-7 is subjective

Thing I worry more is there is a guy Gute likes and he is taken then he pancis and moves up the board to grab next guy he likes as he did with Love

From what was also reported he wanted Jefferson but was not willing to pay the price to move up that high to get him and that Aiyuk was next on his list.

We are assuming Love was not his #2 guy on the board. It could be more of an evaluation error then panic.

Did he covet Jefferson sure, many teams likely so that’s more value issue which I get.

As I mentioned in shout though at this point any news coming out will be all BS to try to throw people off to what teams really want to do.

Actually Gutes early picks round 1-2 are good it's his middle round picks that are questionable.

2018-Jaire Alexander (hit), Josh Jackson (miss)
2019-Rashan Gary (hit), Darnell Savage Jr. (hit), Elgton Jenkins (hit)
2020-Jordon Love (miss), AJ Dillon (hit)
2021-Eric Stokes (hit so far), Josh Myers (undecided)
you think rashan gary was a hit?? you use a top 12 draft pick on a guy who spent 90% of his first two seasons sitting on the bench? and even in his third season wasn't a full-time starter? lol. good gms do not waste high first round picks on a developmental player. even dillon didn't produce until jamaal williams went to detroit. and i've read a lot of criticism of savage on this forum as well as others. i'll grant you alexander, jenkins, and maybe stokes.

With 2 first round picks I don’t see how he would panic

#3 is Olave and frankly, it's not close, Williams is injured, and Pickens is also a huge risk( both are red flagged). Burks and Dotson only fit certain schemes and Watson is still unknown due to the level he played and the system.

Thing with Burks who some say would be a hybrid player would he fit because Samuel who is a hybrid WR/RB is doing well in Shanahan's offense which ML would like to run if he did not have to cater it to fit Rodgers.
