Packers 2022 Draft Thread

Are there any WR with high football IQ? Rodgers won't throw to him unless he understands the scheme and can show that he can be in the right place at the right time.

It's not so much about being "smart" it's running great routes consistently and both the Ohio State WR fit that tag in the first round.

I agree. I think, Rodgers wants receivers who:
1) Catch the ball
2) Read defenses like he does so he can change plays - routes on the fly at the line of scrimmage
3) Then it's route running. And,
4) then making yourself open on the Scramble

He's looking at it differently, that's why he frequently likes guys who many think don't have talent.

Then if they screw up once he screams at then and won't throw the ball to them.

Maybe it’s just me, but I get the feeling we will see a passing game that much more resembles what we saw in 2020, when Rodgers played significantly more within ML’s system as opposed to the hero ball we saw in 2021.
And with that in mind, they don’t need super-star WR’s because ML will call plays that “scheme” people open rather than depend on a WR winning his route against the DB.
JMHO

Well you have to run crisp routes and read defenses before anything else…I digress. This is probably 12’s last year in GB. Do not and i repeat do not draft a WR for 1 year look at the long term implications. Very few if any WR pick up the speed and nuances of the pro game on year 1.

So does Brady and other QB’s. This is pro football not Pop Warner. As one HC eloquently said “do your damn job”.

I don't trust Rodgers to go cowboy and do what he wants to do in the offense.

But you know what do it on the sideline were not everyone is watching I have never liked Rodgers screaming at guys chewing them out when they mess up a route. No one screams at him on the field when he screws up a throw.

And he’s the captain and the leader. As much as i have issues with something’s he does this is at the bottom of the list. Run you damn route and do your job. You don’t think this carries over from practice or film study?
