The Green Bay Packers travel east to take on the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.
  • This is the 31st straight season (1993-2023) that Green Bay has played on MNF.
  • It is just the third MNF game against the Giants (1982 and 1983, both at New York).
  • Including the postseason, the Packers have won three of the last four matchups, scoring 30-plus points in two of those victories (31, 38).
  • Overall, Green Bay leads the series, 34-27-2, including the postseason. The Packers hold an 18-17-2 record as the away team in the series, including winning five of the last seven games at the Giants.
  • Five of the last seven games between the two teams (including playoffs) have been decided by 14-plus points.
  • It is only the second time in the last 14 seasons that the Packers have had two MNF games in the same season (2019).
  • It is the first time since 2008 that Green Bay will play two road MNF games in the same season.
  • It is just the second time (2019) that Green Bay has multiple Thursday games and multiple Monday games in a single season.
  • The Packers have won three straight games and four of their last five. The three-game win streak is tied with the Rams and Dolphins for No. 4 in the NFL among active win streaks behind the four-game win streaks of Dallas, Indianapolis and San Francisco.
  • Green Bay has had at least one three-game winning streak in all five seasons under LaFleur.

  • The Packers rattled off five consecutive wins from 1961-69 to own the longest win streak of the series, including two NFL Championship victories during that stretch.

This should be a win for the Packers. In fact, the rest of the season could well be wins. It's been a crazy ride so far, so it's hard to predict too much.

But, a win against the Giants could be huge. If one of those teams ahead of them that is presently listed as in for a wild card spot loses, the Packers could slide into that hole, and end up being part of post season play. Right now, it's a dream, but one that could be reality.

What a season so far. It could be the beginning of a new era with the Packers being at, or near the top, of the NFL leader board, week after week.

Based on the formula they use I believe GB would currently have the last playoff spot. I’m of two minds on the whole thing: on the one hand it doesn’t matter. Their goals this year were to see if Love is the guy moving forward, and also to remain competitive during a rebuild and cap clearing year. On the other hand though, they’ve recently established a standard for themselves where if they continue that level of play they will undoubtedly be in the playoffs. That’s just the reality of it, so why not embrace the idea?

Now ML needs to manage their preparation, so that they don't walk into this game overconfident and get embarrassed.

You're right! They do hold the 7th spot. I thought they were just outside of it. They could rise to the 6th spot at best, from what I see. Beating the Vikings would be the difference maker.

The Vikings need to play the Lions twice, and Packers once. The Rams are a problem, behind the Packers. They could oust either the Packers or Vikings in the end.

i don't think the rams will be a problem because they still have to play the ravens and the 49ers. meanwhile the vikings are the only team on the packers remaining schedule that doesn't have a losing record (yet). but as you said, they still have to play the loins twice, and the packers. i don't want the packers to be overconfident, but it's okay if i am. and i see no reason why we can't run the table.

GB should win this. But they’re a young team and it’s hard in pro sports to bring that level of intensity week in week out. There will be games that they’ll lose as head scratchers. This might be one of them as they grow. But they could also win by 20…. Either way like R said the goal was to find out if Love was that guy, and it appears he is. So sit back and enjoy:

I'm with you. The vibe I'm getting is a very loose team right now. Confident and loose. And not to put too much on him at this early point but I think it stems a bit from the QB, he just doesn't seem to feel pressure from any of this. Kinda crazy.

I've seen runs like this turn into something special, and I've seen them fall apart in a heartbeat. Gonna keep my fingers crossed, and remember that 7 teams have won the Super Bowl who were wild cards, including the Packers in 2010.

I'm right there with you TW. We've all watched enough, over the years, to be a bit hesitant, but damn, it sure is exciting this time of year to still be in the hunt. It's been a heckuva year so far. Let's hope it keeps going.
