I'm not certain the Badgers have encountered this yet, but it's already started down here in Texas. At least there are fairly accurate rumors. Guys who are on the fence as to whether or not to enter the draft are getting agents to speculate roughly how much money they'd get in a first NFL contract, and using that figure to pretty much "negotiate" a deal to stay in school for another year, if the NIL money can match the income they'd get from that pro contract.
Going along with this, the "agents" are quietly going about the business of floating "what if's" around the major schools relating to their clients opting to enter the portal. The question is, "Would school XXX supporters gather more NIL money for said player than the school he's at?" Of course, it's all hypothetical, because nobody would even consider extorting money like that...... would they?
